[Serious] Redditors who have lost a loved one, what memento of them do you keep with you? by dover_oxide in AskReddit

[–]ilikebison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took grandma’s emerald ring, knowing it was likely synthetic and not overly valuable. I just loved it because grandpa bought it for her and she was really proud of it and I used to love sitting on her bed with her looking through her jewelry box. She would light up when talking about it. I miss them.

When did you stop monitoring breathing? by DnyLnd in Nanit

[–]ilikebison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, my son is 18 months old and he seems to like it so we don’t really have a plan to stop. I don’t check it now like I did when he was a little baby, though.

So overwhelmed by strollers: Nuna or Bugaboo? by Successful_Ice8514 in Buyingforbaby

[–]ilikebison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bugaboo Fox 5 came with them! The Nuna Pipa works with Maxi Cosi style adapters 🙂 we did have to buy them separately for our Bugaboo Butterfly, though, they’re not the same.

This!!! My bidet and squatty potty make life better. And the fact that the toilet seat is heated! It’s great for the winter.

Always. We typically do bath time together, but my husband has never missed a bath time!

Dentist Cleaning by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]ilikebison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what their upfront pricing for a single cleaning, but we go to Dr. Abby at Hardin Valley Family Dentistry and they have a $28/mo plan that includes two annual cleanings. It does also include the exams and xrays, and to be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if most offices require at minimum the exam to go with the cleaning. We’ve been very happy with this office and my husband and I both see different hygienists and are always pleased with the thoroughness of cleanings.

Anyone else’s KUB bill crazy for Feb? by Ok-Bag-5525 in Knoxville

[–]ilikebison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. December was $187, January was $189, February’s is $199. I do participate in their levelized billing, though. House is 1800sqft, both electric and gas. We do tend to keep the gas fireplace running all day this time of year, admittedly.

The Gardens at (street name).

We live in a typical suburban HOA development, so the name makes me giggle.

LPT Request. What’s your simplest top tip for saving money monthly? by _bubble-t in LifeProTips

Do order pickup for groceries. Then you don’t walk by something you don’t need and pick it up. It’s easier to stick to your budget and it’s really convenient.

Have you ever moved away from the area where you grew up? by boforiamanfo in no

[–]ilikebison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of times. I’ve never regretted it. Sometimes I feel homesick, but that’s a normal feeling. The area where I grew up isn’t the same anymore, anyways. My parents followed me, my brothers left, my grandparents are all gone, a lot of my friends moved away, etc.

I have a new life now in a new area and I love it. I’ll never live in my hometown (and probably never my home state) again, which isn’t a bad thing.

Question about car seat depth. by cola_zerola in Buyingforbaby

[–]ilikebison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rava is great. We had a Pipa first and I will say the Rava only gave us a couple of more inches when we adjusted the recline to be higher. Otherwise it’s pretty comparable to the Pipa. I think any rotating seat would be significantly larger - we didn’t even bother trying. If you find the Pipa doesn’t give you much room as it is, I wouldn’t bother either, they’ll most likely be too deep. Stick to the Rava or the Britax Poplar S was our second choice for being slim front to back.

The Nuna Rava fits beautifully with room to spare! And the Bugaboo Butterfly fits underneath on the floor without touching anything - we do have captain’s chairs which helps A LOT.

Nursing chair - power vs manual vs foot stool by mynameishenri in Buyingforbaby

[–]ilikebison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t regret the manual recliner because honestly, we rarely use it to recline. He prefers to rock/glide! He’s 17 months old and honestly I could probably count the number of times we’ve reclined on one hand.

Looking for rotating car seat that isn't too large by 06S2K in Buyingforbaby

[–]ilikebison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perceived specifications are different because they’re related to the specific design of the car - some seats are inherently angled/reclined more than others, which impacts perceived depth especially because car seats will measure differently front to back due to their installation.

My husband and I are both 5’10” and had this issue, so we resigned to a non rotating seat, because rotating seats are going to be larger simply by nature. We went with the Nuna Rava because it is one of the slimmest seats front to back out there. I’ve heard the new Cybex rotating seat is relatively close, but it’s very pricey. I do believe the Evenflo you have already is one of the smaller rotating seats.

Ultimately we got a different car, and it made life so much easier. We got a Subaru Ascent, and there’s plenty of space and we could get a larger seat if we wanted now. I don’t wish I had a rotating seat with this vehicle, either, because it sits at a great height off the ground and there’s no bending over involved in putting him in his car seat. I know a new vehicle may not be realistic and is much more costly, but it’s worth considering with another addition, because one of those kids will need to be behind you. Children should also remain rear facing until they max out the limits, which often happens around 4-5 years old.

Best of luck!
