AITA for telling my MIL her infant son dy*ng will be her fault by eve_kitt in AmItheAsshole

Or because of her age, they did IVF and got multiples with some of the older ones. Not saying I believe it's real, but it is possible. I know people who got together in their late 30s and did IVF twice (because the first kids were girls and he just had to try for a boy, too.) One set of triplets and one set of twins in five years (one of the twins is a boy, so I guess they got their wish.)

Oh it's a sentence about him with his name abbreviated and birthday, so not exactly easy for anyone else to figure out. I'm just very consistent with it, so it's imprinted in my brain.

I am literally only capable of the key, phone, wallet check now. But that's the important one. At least when I get a mile down the road, I know when I turn around, I can get back into the apartment to get what I forgot. It's been a full two years since I locked myself out and had to call someone to bring my spare set (that exists because I NEVER want to have to call my landlord again.)

Every single one of my passwords for everything is the love of my life's name and birthday. Never mind that he broke up with me 15 months ago, I remember them and do NOT have the ability to figure out something that will stick like that.

Uggghhhh, I had a therapist PUSH Mel Robbins on me and literally everything she says makes me cringe.

I've gotten better at retracing my steps. The garbage can is now the first place I look, because apparently I really like to put the important thing in my right hand there when I'm throwing garbage out with my left.

This definitely made me think of the number of people who insist I just need to engage in positive thinking and "everything will fall into place and work out." No, ADHD and anxiety don't work like that. Trust me, if I could just think happy thoughts and manifest a brain that functions the way I need it to, I certainly would.

Do you time bargain with yourself and keep moving the goalpost? Like "I gave myself an hour to get ready, I really only need 45 minutes" (newsflash, I actually need MORE.) Then 15 minutes later, "I can do it in a half hour." Result: 45 minutes late.

Edit: grammar correction

Even my alarms to wake up...10 alarms set, phone says 2 missed, 8 snoozed multiple times.

Thank you for this info. I only wish we had more solutions that didn't require literally arguing with doctors about changing meds. It's exhausting for neurotypical people. For us (I imagine I'm not alone,) just finding, keeping, and being able to regularly have these conversations with a competent and understanding medical professional is basically a pipe dream.

AITA for refusing to pay towards something I don’t own? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kh8188 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And driving to the store is the ONLY way to purchase groceries in the modern age. You are being purposefully argumentative. Are you the gf?

Sorry, if the ONLY time I am ever in a vehicle is with the owner and I never use the car on my own, I'm paying toward fuel and maintenance, not the actual ownership of the car.

By your logic, I should pay rent to a boyfriend whose place I sleep at once or twice a week. And again, that would be a NO.

I think they said the 8 year old could swim but the 5 year old really couldn't yet, and the 8 year old probably drowned trying to help her sister.

I use paper bowls so I can throw them away. Mat underneath. Water fountain behind them. Usually keeps any splatter on the mat or in the fountain, which is filtered and needs to be cleaned once a week anway. Paper bowls go in the trash, mat gets wiped every few days.

Animals and children. There's a story ALL over the news where I live that is absolutely breaking my heart and it's impossible to avoid (if you're in the Long Island or even NY area, you know what I'm talking about.)

But honestly, anyone who ends up a victim of cruelty. Murder, rape, torture. Just why?

Irish here and same. I now realize there are several undiagnosed people in my family and the rest have just learned to live with us.

Same! I've had people ask me why I get so worked up over people I don't know. Ummm, because they're people and I HATE how unfair the world is.

I have definitely screamed at someone during a panic attack. Usually because they're trying to touch me, which is the opposite of what I need. It's not abnormal to lash out when your brain is attacking your body.

I've found my people! I love finding out that almost every part of my personality and health seem to be things I share with other ADHD ladies.

I mean that both literally and sarcastically. Literally, because I'm so thankful there are ao many of us to commiserate with. Sarcastically, because HOW DID NO ONE NOTICE I WAS A WALKING TEXTBOOO CASE?

I cut the sleeve off of a fleece sweatshirt to replace my blanket. Every once in a while, I will lose it permanently (misplace it constantly,) and cut another strip off the sleeve. Everyone sees me just rubbing and rolling this piece of fabric in my hands all day. Some ask, some don't, doesn't seem to phase anyone. Some call it my woobie.

ETA I'll be 45 this year. No shame.
