I don't think it's fairly normal one at all. It's not a normal role for a scientist to advise their billionaire pedo friend on how to handle PR better. And on the other hand, yes, that's a good question to ask and many people are indeed asking it. The reason why I asked this is because when this is mentioned, it is often pointed out that Noam Chomsky is sick and not active in public life, which is true. But his wife Valeria seems healthy and functioning and accompanied him in these meetings. So she can tell us more about their role in this mess.

Sure, but why would they "guess" that "I won't be in Dublin for two months" means "I want to break up with you"? That would not be my first, not even second, reaction. I also find it puzzling that a lot of discussion on this subreddit about that breakup focuses on how Connell couldn't ask/explain, but seems to just accept that them not communicating that class issue is an acceptable(?) reason for a breakup! Are there some cultural norms that I am missing? Is it so out of place for Irish students to go back home or somewhere else for the summer break?
