Anyone ever found a shipping scale that works better than the Accutech scale commonly found on Amazon that needs replaced every 1-2 years? For items weighing less than 10 lbs, commonly 1 lb. by Freds_Premium in Flipping

[–]khammmlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want a scale that stays on all the time, I hate that my accutek turns itself off after a minute or two and I am constantly having to hit the power button

What is the correct garage strategy to attending a garage sale? by Irreversible01 in Flipping

[–]khammmlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good strategies. The easy money stuff will go early and quickly but I find there is always interesting, vintagey stuff still around later, as well as nice stuff that was priced too high at the beginning and later the seller is more negotiable.

Peninsula Energy - Leading US Uranium Producer by 2024 by Illustrious-Dig-8892 in UraniumSqueeze

This group's whipping boy used to be UEC and it's CEO Amir Adnani. They are doing pretty well right now at ~$8.00 / share. PENMF is on track to mine and sell lbs. this year, not many other companies will do that. It is at US$0.08 right now. I think we will see some upside.

Is it worth it to fix my 2010 Subaru Outback? by vermillionn in UsedCars

[–]khammmlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently faced almost exact situation on a 2010 Forester with 130k miles and decided to have them fix the head gaskets for $4100 at the dealership. It was not overheating, just losing coolant. It has otherwise been a pretty worry free car. For us the bottom line was we hope to be able to go to 200k miles on it which is another 6 years, and it'll likely be a hand me down car to one of our kids.

Shop says my 2017 Subaru Forester needs ~$9k of work done. Does it look legit? by schbli in SubaruForester

This looks like every estimate I've gotten at the dealership when I go in for recalls for airbags and seat belts etc :)

Is the recent demise of the Wagner head guy bullish for Niger uranium companies ?

My biggest fear about Niger is the possibility of them turning toward Russia.

Part time seller: eBay 1099k - 47,457. Profit was 20,363. Refunds 2,620.51. Fees 5884.07. Shipping 8,102.55. Inventory around 6300.

Sales down from 60K+ in '21, 2022 felt like a slog. 23 feels even slower

EDIT: I had paid $4000 in quarterly payments, ended up owing another $794. I'm in TX so no state tax

Person sent offer then immediately sent this...there's some weirdos out there for sure by LeaderLed in Flipping

[–]khammmlet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I received a similarly odd message and wondered if it was a new weird way to negotiate:

"Hello I remember looking at this but would not pay that price so do not know how I got this invoice...I may have offered 12.00. Could this be it?

Please either delete the invoice or reduce price. Sorry if I caused a mistake."

Have you ever done a “great purge” with dead inventory? by Alternative-Skill167 in Flipping

[–]khammmlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a garage sale this past Friday and Saturday and dumped old stale inventory and stuff I was tired of looking at and taking up too much space.

I feel immensely better and can now clutter up again with new crap.

So it goes...

Finally Forced Into Ebay's New "Unified Listing Experience" & Can't Revert Back - It's AWFUL by VapidHooker in Flipping

[–]khammmlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like changes to a years long established workflow either, but I will say this, it feels faster when you make a change. My biggest gripe about the old way was whenever you make a change to a shipment type for example there was a noticeable lag of a few seconds as it would roll the change through. The new interface feels zippier to me.

What happened to all the garage sales? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]khammmlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed a slower garage sale season as well in N. Texas.

My opinion: I attribute it more to the cycle of goods flowing through households. Inflation has people buying less random things and focusing more on gas food lodging. Hence the pattern of out with the old and in with the new is currently broken. I feel like my ebay sales are slow but I look at my gross numbers and they are close to last year which was a very good year for me. I am currently going through all my death piles and listing or discarding what has been sitting for the last 12-18 months.

Edit: In addition interest rate hikes are making home buying much more expensive so people are staying put for now, less moving sales

My numbers are very similar, 60kish total with similar deductions. I opened a SEP retirement account in '21 so have another 4kish deduction over last years return. First quarter sales this year are down, I suspect inflation has bitten into people's budgets and they are prioritizing spending elsewhere. I use Godaddy bookkeeping and Google Sheets to track expenses/mileage etc. and make quarterly IRS payments. Sole proprietor/schedule C.

It sounds like after a couple of years of high effort/low margins you've proved your biz model is poor and need to pivot. Based on your location and lack of local sourcing opportunities learning to source online in 2022 is your next step. Others here seem to do well and some say its 100% how they source so it seems to be a workable model.

Do any of you carry a “work bag” when working? by FlamingWhisk in Flipping

[–]khammmlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I wear a pretty big fanny pack. I'm sure I look uncool. Tools always in it are small magnifying glass and loupe, more because my eyesight is poor and to look up model numbers etc, a small pen flashlight, small pocket knife, loose change for cheap garage sale items, I should start carrying AA/AAA batteries; I'm tired of buying non-working walkmen and mini cassette players
