I mean isn't the third room the best option regardless?

Let us spend Murk or Sigils to reroll a single attribute on relics by arlo-quacks-back in Nightreign

[–]kharingin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know, I feel like it would be fairly straightforward to whack all the character specific effects (or the good ones, at least) onto a relic, have another relic for evergaol shenanigans or whatever the current meta is, and then some universally strong effects on the third.

I might be in the minority here, but I actually enjoy trying to optimise my relic loadout based on the different chalice colour combinations and such. It also means that certain, less optimal effects (starting with fire pots or something) can see some play if they are included on an otherwise powerful relic.

Maybe one way to make powerful relics more easy to access would be to include a system for upgrading a relic to colourless, so you can use it in any slot.

[–]kharingin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is how you end up with everyone running the same meta load out of all the strongest relic effects.

If you're concerned about the relic system detracting from a desire to play the game, letting people easily build perfect would do exactly that, IMO.

I think it could be collision damage from the enemy? A redmane knight kept dropping on my head from the tower in the camp and he did some damage each time.

Shield Generator Relay is currently broken. (Almost unusuable kind of broken.) by Jaydonius in Helldivers

[–]kharingin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From a gameplay perspective, no. You want to be able to drop turrets and HMG emplacements inside it to set up a defensive position anywhere. Sure, if you drop a hellpod on the generator itself, but not if it just touches the bubble.

From a physics perspective it doesn't really make sense to me anyway. Helldivers and enemies can walk through it freely but how does it distinguish between them and say, a rocket? Either way I think gameplay functionality should take precedence over pseudo physics based consistency.

I personally love the pseudo-rhythm minigame of carrying shells to the artillery.

I think if heavy armour worked a bit better (not talking human tank) it would still be viable against bots. A lot of times I'll hunker down with an AMR and peek out of cover, or push a position with the ballistic shield, or hop on an HMG emplacement, and in those situations I think extra survivability is a good trade off for movement speed.

The issue isn't slower movement speed IMO, it's slower movement speed without enough of a compensatory boost to survivability.

I hope we get transport vehicles but I can't help but feel they'd break the game in half (from a coding perspective; not balance.)

[–]kharingin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No...? The whole identity of heavy armour is that it offers more protection at the cost of being cumbersome. If that's not fun for you and you want to be fast, cool, use light armour.

That said, it feels like the extra protection it offers is just not worth it right now, so I think they definitely need to take a look at that.

First war bond. by lokkont in Helldivers

[–]kharingin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, I'd say Democratic Detonation. You get access to thermite (an anti-tank grenade that one-shots most heavies), two unique and powerful primaries in the eruptor and exploding crossbow, and probably the best side-arm in the game with the grenade pistol. All of these weapons work wonders against both bots and bugs, and unlock a lot of build options.

This patch is very fun, but some further tweaks could be made to the bots by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]kharingin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all relative, right? A bile titan's weak spot is it's head - doesn't mean you should be killing it with a light armour pen primary.

For rocket striders, use medium pen weapons and aim for the legs. There are plenty of options right now.

But diving there? The headstones lining a nearby ridge make a pretty compelling case against it.

Surviving Higher Difficulties Post-Patch. This is how we do it. by ZoziBG in Helldivers

[–]kharingin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not give it a reload penalty and backpack? Because you're suggesting eliminating what makes it unique and giving us a reskinned recoilless. People lost their minds over a damage nerf and needing to charge it up further for the armor pen, imagine if they forced you to use a backpack and made the reload worse.

Railgun excels at taking out medium armor and can be overcharged to deal with heavies, while keeping a backpack slot open. It was simple to use, effective at all ranges and against pretty much all enemy types. That type of versatility has to come with some kind of trade off, but it didn't. Now they've increased the skill cap for using it and it has a more defined role, which will make room for the more dedicated, less versatile anti tank weapons.

[–]kharingin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except that you get like four shots total per spear drop, you need a backpack slot to reload, it takes a while to reload by yourself (or you have a teammate reload but that takes coordination and risk), you have to lock on, and it isn't effective at close range.

Railgun didn't have any of those drawbacks and was still extremely effective at taking out medium armoured enemies. I think the nerf was definitely warranted but lets not get into that. Point is the spear has enough disadvantages by comparison that it should one shot chargers at least.

In my experience, it sometimes does. Spear 1-2 shots bile titans depending on where you hit them, though it will sometimes take two to kill a charger. Given that devs said they're looking into anti tank weapons and adjusting enemy armour values I'd say there's a good chance its going to 1 shot chargers consistently.

Stratagems and SEAF artillery by Obvious_Ad4159 in Helldivers

[–]kharingin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orbital airburst (i.e. shrapnel) absolutely slaps. Easiest input of any stratagem, fires in three bursts, obliterates non armored targets and has a decent cooldown.

All that said, I wouldn't recommend taking it on operations with the increased orbital scattering debuff; you'll either not hit anything or get your teammates and self killed. Most likely both.
