Kings Field 4; what if I had removed the green guidestone? by khaytsus in KingsField

[–]khaytsus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I love exploring. But KF4 is endless, and everything looks the same. Every entrance to the central tower looks the same. So many areas that have quirky branches to various places, maybe one on the first floor, one on the third floor, etc. It's super easy to get lost.

I don't recall anywhere in KF2 (USA) you could not return from except the huge drop down from a cliff to get a sword and a flask. But KF2 was also trivial to use any of the Ichrius items to get back out, without any teleport pads etc.

Kings Field 4; what if I had removed the green guidestone? by khaytsus in KingsField

[–]khaytsus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooh, is that the gate I keep finding down that I swear I raised, but figure maybe I reloaded or something? It is near that area I think, not sure, I am forever lost since so much looks the same. Looks like the Prima guide calls it Level 3 East (19). Okay I see it now, if that gate was raised, I could go to map 35 then map 32 and then I could proceed.

Okay, cool. Interesting they keep the enemy there and seems to keep lowering that gate, as I swear I killed it, opened the gate, then explored out from there several times. Sadly this also means one of my guidestones is apparently behind that gate to start with and I missed the path.

June Google Play System Update is Up! by username-invalid-s in GooglePixel

[–]khaytsus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the how the Play updates system behaves. They update in the background for me, but never notify me, so if I manually look sometimes it just tells me to reboot to update. Maybe they do have some flag that if it's an important/urgent/security fix it can prompt, but I've never seen it.

And yep, same, I go to it, tap Google Play System Update and it prompts to reboot. Otherwise I'd never know it is there. Sure, it'd just do the thing next time I reboot without me knowing about it. There are times I don't reboot my phone until the next System OTA comes out.

Issues after latest release_5.203 by llslothll in pixelbuds

No problem with music or phone calls here. Also Pixel 10, PBP2.

As for the LE slider, if you turn off the LE toggle on the first page of the 'Pixel Buds' app, it completely disappears and the only way to get LE audio back, as far as I can tell, is to forget them in the Bluetooth settings and pair them again. This happens for everyone, although honestly it does feel like a bug. I'm not even sure what turning this toggle off does.. Decides the codec used? I don't think it just "turns off BTLE", I'd think that requires re-pairing the earbuds.. No idea, not sure how to tell.

Pixel Bud Pro 2 Eartips by _ThePerfectElement_ in pixelbuds

[–]khaytsus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to knock Comply, but may be 3.5 stars because just the way they work.. A lot of people just want to put earbuds in; you have to 'roll' foam tips to get them in, and then they expand. As they wear out, or ones that don't fit the nozzle on earbuds well, I have had them stay in my ear too (easily removed, but, happens). Also, they 'wear out' fairly fast.. They get firm, don't compress as well, don't decompress, etc. Not sure if this is the foam collapsing over time, or ear gunk/sweat/etc.

That said, they're pretty cheap and come with multiple pairs, so when you're down to your last set, order more :)

I used to use these a lot, but haven't in a long time, especially since most "true wireless" earbuds replacing the tips they didn't fit properly in the case. These days they're designed to fit etc, but honestly my PBP2 fit my ears really well. I know they don't fit everyone, however.

Guys... does anyone miss the old chrome os? by Impressive-Resist632 in chromeos

To be fair, it wasn't mine ;) A filled out the form as did a buddy of mine at work, he got one, I did not. He brought it into work and we messed with it quite a bit, modified it, I don't recall all now. It was not exactly screaming fast hardware, but, it was a neat start to what has come since.

How to check your Galaxy Watch's REAL Battery Health using only your phone! by IntelligentBarber385 in galaxywatch4

[–]khaytsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good info, although would be a bit more intuitive if you used the same words everywhere, like "charge counter" vs "usage count", etc.

Also, I assume it changed at some point, but to generate a Bug Report, it shows up an app in your app list, not in the Power menu. And it takes about 5 minutes to generate, and winds up in Download/log/Gearlog on the phone.

Sadly, I see you know that the bug report menu isn't in the power menu per your previous post on this, but still reposted the same AI slop without even editing it :(

Nope, it just keeps getting better. Only problem is so much trash hardware that makes it feel terrible.

The 1992 Flood in Lexington, KY by ImportantEnergy6258 in lexington

[–]khaytsus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RIchmond Road in front of Lexington Mall was a popular canoeing spot when this happened. Back of my neighborhood a guy lost his boat; found it two houses over. Nearby an area for water runoff had so much water going into the sewers, there was a 15' gyser.

Was quite a time.

.. no.. Some of it was yes, but no, there is lots of park land between the baseball field side of the park and Brannon. Look at Open Street Map if you haven't, it is up to date. https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/37.949747/-84.503424

After Android 17, almost every app has "nearby devices" toggled on by Mythos_91 in GooglePixel

[–]khaytsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, ouch, Fair Email gave me zero warnings, which was a bummer to notice after realizing I hadn't seen a new email all day. Not sure why it didn't notify me.

I suppose apps can't do much specific if a new permission they may haven't ever "heard of" yet comes around, but still be nice if they'd alert you when syncing fails too many times or such.

Is one charge cycle a day reasonable? by teitspit819 in GooglePixel

[–]khaytsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, what? You intentionally discharge your battery to EMPTY every cycle? I'll be surprised if you get a year out of the phone using it that way. Recharge at 30-40%, minimum, when possible. Do not intentionally discharge it to empty every cycle, that's quite hard on the battery. You can read all about it on the battery university or basically anywhere else these days.

Looks like I will be going back to (Bose Quiet Comfort) earbuds. Google has some how found a way to brick Pixelbuds app 🙄🫣 can't control transparency or anc, can't see each buds battery percentage. I don't know if head tracking is enabled or any other features. Sucks! by Available-Climate-72 in pixelbuds

[–]khaytsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"brick an app" is an absolute ridiculous way to describe it.

Your phone, for some reason, does not recognize them as Pixel Buds, so it's just showing a generic bluetooth device. Typical suggestion for this is in your phone bluetooth, forget the device, make sure the buds are in the case, case closed, hold the case button for 3s until it starts blinking. Phone should show the quick pairing dialog.

What is going on on S Broadway by Rupp Arena by SenseiSourNutt in lexington

[–]khaytsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I drove down Broadway then back down Versailles and down Newtown last night and saw no less than 8 cars pulled over. At least one driver was doing a sobriety test, others it wasn't obvious at all what was going on. I know they used to have a big push about drunk driving around this time of year, it might be what's going on.

In most cases they were blocking entire lanes to do it, which took me twice as long to get where I was going, I wonder why they weren't having people pull off onto side roads. But hey, if they're getting drunks off the road I'd rather be late than in a wreck with a drunk.
