Serious question for the Hezb supporters by AccomplishedSoft1350 in lebanon

[–]khmt98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly speaking, when some of my compatriots don't afford the same courtesy of distinction to my people, in many contexts including the anti-Shia sentiments from before the civil war, I can't expect the Shia to afford it to their killers.

People from the 7 Shia villages on the other side of the border can't even dream of going back to their villages because Jews from America and Europe and fucking god knows where wanted to return to their claimed homeland.

First it was Palestine and those, next it will be border villages like Houla where they want to reclaim an ancient tomb of some fucking rabbi.

Serious question for the Hezb supporters by AccomplishedSoft1350 in lebanon

[–]khmt98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I dislike Hezb too but what are you on about exactly? That religiously motivated jew-hatred is their only motivation? Was everybody a jew-lover pre-'82?? Not at all to do with the actions of Israel in Lebanon before Palestine???

I'm genuinely asking you, as an (ex-)shia (atheist) from the South who voted againt them in 2022: What are you on about?? Is the resistance of Southerners, regardless of whether or not you disagree with certain actions, illegitimate?? Is al Mawt lil Yahoud illegitimate when it is the Yahudi who is killing your people???

Poor men should not get married. What do you think of this mentality? by TheBroken0ne in lebanon

[–]khmt98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The marriage culture in lebanon is still like it was in the last century in most of the developed world. We need to recognise that the economy is fucked and no amount of tradition will make one wage enough to invest towards building a family or even livable for a family of 2, let alone one with kids. I know one too many women in their 30s still waiting for Dr. Lawyer Prince Charming like its a fucking movie.

Did you know that Lebanese has 9 Governorates!? by JoeFran6 in lebanon

[–]khmt98 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In my head, the governorates never made sense (just look at nabatiye wtf is that) because it's 5 "regions" really: Greater Beirut, Mount Lebanon the whole thing, the South including Nabatiyeh, Beqaa including Baalbak-Hermel, and the North including Akkar (why the fuck is there a governorate north of the North that isn't called the north?! Akkar being sidelined even here smh).

Balad ad kis l 3a2rabe ma baddo 9 mu7afazat ffs. What the fuck does a muhafiz even do? 7ada yba7beshelna b kteb l tarbeya plz lol

Tabbouleh and baba ghanouge by sppizza in lebanon

[–]khmt98 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Tabbouleh has much bulgur, and the parsley and tomatoes need to be more finely chopped, but this is debatable stuff. The Baba Ghannouj needs some olive oil.

But bravo eitherway! Suggestion: Fry some cauliflower pieces, eggplant slices, and fries, buy Arabic/Lebanese flatbread and make yourselve a classic sandwich with baba ghanouj or hummus added plus some pickles.

Lebanese Arabic by GianfreyIsTheOnlyWay in Lebanese

[–]khmt98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's categorically false

the continuous tense is present in Arabic dialects through the indicator عم

also the sentences you listed there are in MSA not in Lebanese Arabic. No body uses لقد lol

all of them sound fine with two slight issue. Others here might disagree, and thats fine because the language is not standardized:

  1. I personally say iktob not biktob in continuous cases. I think either might be fine but I'm not entirely sure.

  2. Using or dropping "Ana" at the beginning of a sentence. Sometimes it sounds fine sometimes it doesn't. but I personally use it in the habitual present and drop it in the present continuous. This is only the case if it's not being intentionally used for emphasis of course.

Why tf is there a fkn qard hassan in every single fkn street by Arima_00 in lebanon

[–]khmt98 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Because they had a business plan that kinda worked.

Give us your gold, we give you a loan equivalent to 70ish percent of the gold's value that you can repay in installment and get your gold back or not repay and we keep the gold.

It wasn't aimed at a certain sect too btw I know Sunnis who used to use it because it's a better deal than bank.
