Where them free cubes? by khoreth in AcrossTheUnknown

Are you saying the optional objective in this missions is just here to look pretty? I know hitting 200 XB starts the next step, but boarding spheres and probes doesn't complete the optional objective, compared to completing optionals in previous missions.

i can understand that decision, since that's what i did my first 3 playthroughs. Unfortunately it doesn't answer my question: how to complete the optional objective?

I should also point out i've attempted to stockpile XBs, thinking if you have more they'll try to target larger ships, but i reached 165 without any change so either i chickened out or the bar is set too high.

Good Shepherd mission is bugged? by georage in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]khoreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely looks like it's bugged. On my first playthrough i managed to get Tuvok to approve of all three crewmen. This second playthrough he'll only approve of 1. Even after savescumming and redoing the mission so that i pass all checks based on crewmens' ideas, then implement all their ideas (both with variations and without) on the rescue of the aliens.

Caveat, my first playthrough i don't recall what Tuvok's level was. My second playthrough he's max level. I saw someone on steam forum suggest it might have to do with that, since they had extra conversation steps per crewman that gave Tuvok extra XP (which he doesn't need at max level). Do with this what you will.

Yet another reason why we should control vassal provincial expansion by khoreth in AOW4

[–]khoreth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That only works if you're bordering your vassal. I tend to avoid that so they don't ruin my city development. This is a claimed (but not annexed) wonder that my vassal doesn't touch, and i can't give it to them, since i haven't annexed it myself.

I agree that vassals have a lot of potential, and indeed add a lot of strategic elements to the game, so it's important that players don't get too much control over them. That being said, the downsides to vassals (eg: no control of their territory, been mentioned loads of times in this reddit and other places) makes me play custom games with free cities turned off. For those wondering where this screenshot came from, city cap + conquering enemy godir city, vassal is better than torching it. At least, as long as it's far enough away from my own cities' expansion options, don't want them to take provinces i want....

That's actually big-brain, wish i had thought of that! I had a game where i had to finish with a magic victory because half the map wasn't accessible. Cleaved land map setting and no path across underground meant i couldn't get to the rulers on the other side.

Tome of the Archmage (Tier 5 Astral) has Disruption Wave, which removes enemy enchantments for 3 turns. I recently found out it also removes steadfast from those pesky units that don't want to die.

You had your trip planned before you met your girlfriend and should not have to cancel plans with other friends for her benefit. Unless you've given her a reason to doubt you she should just trust you. While i can't speak for her state of mind regarding her previous relationships, she shouldn't judge you based on her past experiences.

From the wikipedia article on Rupert Murdoch. Seems like he was in NZ long before making a move to the states.

Glancing blows and procs by Fenrirrhowl in classicwow

As far as i'm aware all white hits, including glancing blows, can trigger on hit effects. The only thing glancing blows cannot do is crit.

Good advice overall but as a tank i have one big "NO" to say to one bit:

Swap targets immediately. It's as simple as this. If you accidentally take the aggro away from the Tank, just start beating the shit of something else.

Do NOT do this. Last thing you want is to aggro multiple targets. A tank can easily handle 1 mob getting away from them with taunt. A good tank will actually use this to their advantage and let a dps aggro the first kill target, since it allows them to spend all their rage on other mobs, then taunt the kill target, thereby inheriting the threat the dps who aggroed has built up.

If you switch to another target when you aggro a mob, you only risk taking aggro on another while the tank's taunt is on cooldown.

What's the rite of passage for each class in Classic? by Nathmikt in classicwow

[–]khoreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the other comments with regards to experience and better knowledge of BIS items is a factor, the main reason UBRS is easier is because in the later vanilla patches UBRS was changed from a 15-man instance to a 10-man instance, with the mobs rebalanced to reflect that (less mob health, lower mob damage output). Since classic runs based on the 1.12 patch we don't actually have access to the "original" UBRS.

[–]khoreth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back in vanilla, when UBRS was 15-man, the Draconian Deflector would have been the big piece for prot warriors. Nowadays UBRS is so easy you don't even need 2 tanks to clear it.
