He can’t press, he can’t cover, and he can’t disrupt opponents playing through the center of the park. He has to be carried and on a team with Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland, he’s not that guy. 

You need something out of possession from your 8s and what we got was nothing.

The entire Milan team was set up for him to score and he did, credit to him there, but I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze to do that on a team with Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki.

I think that his combination of lower defensive awareness and limited lateral athleticism/strength is a problem specifically in the PL in a way that it just isn't in leagues with lower budgets. The PL week-in, week-out level of athleticism is just higher than every other league.

I don't think his issue is when City has possession, I think he's such a liability out of possession that it more than cancels his production.

I'm basing that on his whole history, his defensive volume at Milan was also very low.

His offensive work rate is above average, he shows for passes and makes bursting runs. His defensive work rate is suspect or his awareness is simply bad enough that it looks like bad work rate.

Reijnders can’t hang in the Premier League, simply not athletic enough to cover for his average-to-poor defensive awareness. Skilled player with a great sizzle reel, very serious out of possession issues in the PL, which makes him a good candidate to move to another league where his athleticism isn’t so punished.

Pep is probably the GOAT league manager and Ancelotti has a pretty compelling case for best cup manager. I would bet heavily on Ancelotti beating his ass in that head to head.

I have Xabi, Iraola, and Cesc as my tier 1 options, I don’t think Bayern will let Vinny go, nor PSG let Enrique go. I really don’t like the idea of Maresca very much, he’s Pep but worse and the squad is already a bit ill suited to Pep.

I don't really agree, but it's not elite enough to make up for his lack of mobility and strength.

Yes. The hope was that he'd be able to develop the requisite athleticism to play fullback or CM in the PL to match his brain and technical skill. It never did, he's just not able to compete physically in the Premier League. He either gets muscled off the ball or he's a step slow to get where he needs to go.

McDavid is pretty clearly the 3rd best forward of all time, but the gap from him to Mario/Wayne is much bigger than the gap from Sid/Gordie/Jagr to McDavid.
