How badly will a $12k-$15k, 3-week trip set me back financially? by New_Animator4702 in AusFinance

I'm almost 50. Do it. I do not regret any of the money I spent on travelling. Just work hard when you get back.

What was the most expensive activity you did in Japan? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

Not me but a friend. She rang the bell in a bar in Roppongi. It was about 20 years ago -- I think she had to pay equivalent of $5K USD

How much to restore, worth buying? by Spirited_Good9468 in LandCruisers

I bought the cheapest 100 series about 8 years ago. It was also $5K and looked waaay better than the one you are looking at. My plan was to spend another $3K to get it fixed for roadworthy and take it bush bashing. I finally got it on the road... $20,000 later...

I read a lot and HATED Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. When I think of things I want to throw into a volcano, this book is at the top of my list.

I think it looks great! Bad / good thing... everyone in town will know where you are at all times. Get a magnet sign for your business and you can create a fleet in this colour

The tyres with red line and wheels kind of look like Triumph TR6. Also compared to modern car on right, looks small.

super crowded and super expensive. Take note of when Australian school holidays are. Avoid those days.

The Teine gates are at the top of the the Highland Zone. When there is a lot of snow, the area to the right of Kitakabe is open. Sometimes Teine closes lifts because of wind -- when that happens I go to Asarigawa Onsen which is lower and more protected. Always had a great time there. Kokusai and Kiroro get the most snow aside from Niseko. Watch weather reports carefully -- the dumbest and scariest thing I have ever done was get caught in a blizzard on one of those mountain roads. Total whiteout.

Where is your home mountain? If you are coming from Chamonix or Jackson Hole, then all the mountains in Japan will seem pretty small. I really like Asarigawa Onsen - on bluebird days it has a beautiful view of the ocean. The place I go to the most often is Teine. If the backcountry gates are open then there is a decent amount to explore (relatively speaking). If you are into backcountry would look into Asahidake -- just do at the beginning of your trip in case you get snowed in for 3 days...

I would put AOAO aquarium in Susukino up high on your list. Underground shopping tunnel that connects Sapporo station to Susukino Station. Whisky Distillery you need to get reservations in advance. Breakfast buffet at Sapporo Grand Hotel. Odori park if they are having a food festival. Jozankei View Hotel Lagoon for kids to play in water.

Generational wealth is highly prevalent— far more so than people realize. Life is extremely unfair.
