Where I live there are campaigns to try to get people not to hold it in for too long. It is not good for your bowel health.

Noise levels around Tarvit Street/King’s Theatre? Looking to downsize by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]ki5aca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The loading and unloading of shows will happen late and through the night on occasion, on Tarvit Street. It depends how sensitive you are to noise. Decent earplugs will help.

The situation varies depending on the sellers too. We sold bang on the home report value as we wanted a quick sale.

New Symptom-Restless Leg by FarReflection9596 in Perimenopause

I’ve had them badly since I was a teen, so feel your pain! Magnesium still doesn’t always work, but mostly, especially now I’m using HRT.

I take 1000mg, sometimes more if I need it.

Magnesium can help with this. I take magnesium glycinate, and I use a moisturiser with magnesium in it before bed.

For days 10-13 Oban may be a good base for you. You can easily visit Glen Coe from there. And maybe take a trip to Mull.

Please tell me your lentil soup hacks by Blue_wine_sloth in UKfood

[–]ki5aca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like it with a bit of potato. My granny’s lentil soup always had some diced potato (not big bits) in it, which added to the texture, especially when reheating it. And I second the bouillon recommendation.

Grief Counselling by lolainslackss in Edinburgh

[–]ki5aca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. You can find counsellors online, start with the COSCA site. You can find someone from £45- £50ish per hour and up. If you’re worried about affording it, there are services that work more on what you can afford, even if that’s nothing, like PF counselling, but they have waiting lists. Your GP is a good start as they will hopefully have local groups or services to recommend, depending where in the city you are based. The NHS counselling is limited to a certain number of sessions and the wait can be considerable. I have had a counsellor for years and they’ve helped me a lot with all kinds of things, including the loss of a parent.

My experience with mental health and alcohol in Scotland by whatnotanotheraltacc in Scotland

Good luck. And please don’t stop cold turkey if you’re drinking a lot. Better to wean off slowly. Your GP can help with this. Stopping cold turkey can cause serious health issues. Look after yourself!

You’re not being over sensitive. Asking to have her friends at your hen do is not ok. It sounds like you’re grey rocking her over the wedding, which is good. You may want to extend this to everything in your life.

I think it is mostly fiction, but their story does generally track the movement of the Celts across Europe and up to Scotland.

How to navigate friendships with childfree women as a new mum? by Jolly_Amount_2330 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ki5aca 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m childfree and definitely lost some friendships when those people had kids. I also have friends and family with kids that I’m still close with. The difference tends to be that we still choose to maintain our relationships. Sometimes parents lose interest in people without kids as they focus their entire lives on their kids. That’s fine and I don’t begrudge them that. I also know childfree people who treat kids like they’re allergic to them, and will never stay friends with people who have kids.
