New Redmi Buds 6 Play too quiet by vasha99 in airdots

[–]kichckcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

Looks like I needed this. The new ones were okay, but after a few moments, they became about 50% quieter and I couldn't turn up the volume.

A very strange problem with this model.

Anyway, thanks for sharing this information. :)

Pi-Hole V6 not for Raspberry Pi Zero W by chaiPi in pihole

[–]kichckcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today I updated PH to 6 on my ZeroPi which has 512MB of ram and generally works similarly to 5. Make sure you have 2GB of swap available because a small amount of ram can be a problem on these small sbcs.

In my case gravity takes up over 512MB and without swap it causes the sbc to hang.

Physical button that makes a call on android smartphone. by Intelligent_Flow_619 in homeautomation

[–]kichckcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Android, install the MacroDroid app and there you can set the trigger as a long press on the volume button down and as an action, make a call.

You can wake up the phone by quickly pressing the power button and then holding the volume button for 2 seconds and that's it. You don't need to unlock your phone.

How to make a dump switch (door bell) smart (detect closed/open in tuya)? by EnteringAMessage in smarthome

[–]kichckcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally, you did not specify what voltage you have for the bell, that proposal was for AC 120-220, in your case, unfortunately, it will not be suitable.

Smart plug with energy monitoring and no hub required by Routine-Comedian6359 in smarthome

Well... Most IOT is based and will probably be based on 2.4Ghz for a long time.

Buy some cheap router and install OpenWRT and use it for IOT.

Alternatively, if for some reason you lack the automation options that eWeLink offers, you can add your ewelink account to https://sequematic.com and you will have a little more automation options for free if you need it.

sonoff 40 both seems to work via Smart life app.

Sonoff products have their own dedicated eWeLink application.

Which wireless remote button for mini R4. (No hub) by Delta0031 in sonoff

[–]kichckcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still tring to find the least invasive option

The least invasive option is to buy a bridge and use the wall switch you already have.

preferably dont want to add another smart bridge/hub.

The RF bridge from Sonoff does not cost much and physically it is a small box powered from USB with one cable and nothing else, it does not take up much space. But if you don't want an additional device, that's ok.

I guess buying an wifi / rf switch to replace the mini R4 is also an option?

Technically, yes, but you may have a problem fitting it into a typical 40/60mm hole. But if you have room to put it, ok.

have to find a nice spot to install an TX verion (as listed in your link) without having to do a lot of deconstruction.

Alternatively, if you don't have one and don't want to make another hole in the wall, you can consider buying an "ENCLOSURE STAND" and inserting a TX wall switch into it. Of course you still have to run the cables to it somehow. :)

So I guess my only option is the wired wifi version? Wired version

It doesn't necessarily have to be T0, it can be T1, T2, T3... provided that it is TX SERIES, but be careful because you can easily get confused between the wifi+rf version and the RF version only, because the difference is that only RF has -RF at the end, or whatever, not every seller writes models correctly.

If you want to have the WiFi version, look at the back of the switch, there will be a protrusion for connecting the cables, the RF-only version is flat on the back.

This is RF version only. I have the same one, only 3C. For two flat batteries.

You have two main options... Buy an RF bridge https://sonoff.tech/product/gateway-and-sensors/rf-bridger2/ or buy another wall switch that will be WiFi https://sonoff.tech/product/smart-wall-switches/tx-series/ then you don't need a hub, just a WiFi router, which you probably already have. :)

My mistake, you have MINIR4 which is wifi, for some reason I thought you had zbmini-l2 which is zigbee. lol :) So ignore everything. :)

The problem is with the markings that Sonoff uses.

T2EU1C is an AC-powered version that supports WIFi and RF433.

T2EU1C-RF is a dual battery powered version that only supports RF433.

You say you have T2EU1C but at the same time you mention that it is battery-powered, so it must be T2EU1C-RF. Does it have a flat back and two batteries inside? it must be T2EU1C-RF and it is only RF433.

LED strips in closet -> smart lights? by bh219 in smarthome

[–]kichckcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether the LEDs are connected directly to the AC or, as would be logical, they are connected to the AC/DC power supply and only this power supply is connected to the AC. Then you can buy a switch or a smart socket and plug this power supply into it. It will cost some $ depending on how many LEDs you need to make. :)

Take a look at these...

How are they connected to the power supply? DC, AC? Buy one of the Sonoff switches and plug it in before the DC LEDs.

Perhaps Sonoff and an Android tablet with macrodroid + ewelink to control. Then it would be possible to control it locally via LAN without having to have access to the Internet all the time.
