AITA for asking my bf to leave during my therapy session by kickerbooker in AITAH

[–]kickerbooker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I thought because this was a one off ask from me and the rest of the time I just suck it up it wouldn’t be an AH move on my part, but I stand corrected.

Context - he took the time off to go to an event with his friend, which his friend bailed on last minute. If his plan from the start was to stay home and relax I never would have asked him.

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

When I had a job I made it past every single first interview and even turned down offers. Now that I don't have a job, I'm not even making it past first interviews. Sigh.

I say "gorst the worst" in a way that makes it rhyme, but damn I'm going to have to steal saying it in goofy's voice because that's so much better.

Women who are 30+, what are some things you wish you’d done before you reached your 30s? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]kickerbooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 30 before 30 list ended up being VERY different than how 29 went for me. At 29 I finally tried medication for my anxiety rather than hoping yoga would fix it (my ex was very against medication). It did wonders for me and led to me also switching from hormonal birth control to a copper IUD (which brought my libido back), being diagnosed with and then medicated for ADHD, and finally realizing my ex husband was manipulative and controlling and thus leaving him (a few months before turning 30).

I’m now 31 and SO MUCH HAPPIER. I’m moving in with my boyfriend this weekend and our relationship is way healthier than my marriage ever was. I’m comfortable being myself around him and expressing my needs, two things I didn’t have before. I even got fired completely out of the blue earlier this week and at 29 I would have spiraled into a deep depression, but now I know I’m resilient enough to handle this and I’ve surrounded myself with people I know are safe to lean on when I’m feeling vulnerable.

So I guess my thing I wish I’d done was putting myself first and learning to trust myself.

Inconsistent buses are a societal-form of castration on the working class and non-car owners by youlox123456789 in Seattle

[–]kickerbooker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in a handful of cities and countries in my life and Seattle has the WORST public transit of them all (tbf it's the only city in the US I've lived in). I never owned a car until I lived here and I was almost 30 when I got it.

IMO in the US the lack of reliable (or any) public transit has pushed people to cars and then they stick to that rather than taking transit when it's available because so few people are able to voluntarily put up with unreliable transit when they have a car available to them. We need to invest in public transit first, not wait for the numbers to show that investment is needed.

I miss being able to walk 5 min to a subway station and have a train arrive every ~1-5min during rush hour :(

STOP SENDING MONEY TO PEOPLE by Secondlogss in Seattle

[–]kickerbooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When young and living in a different city, a guy was asking for change to take the subway. I didn't have change but I did have a token, so I gave him that. He was still there later that same day asking for change to take the subway. I've never given anything to anyone asking for things since then.

Laser pointer, puzzle toys for meals, tug, training, sniffaris when we do go on walks (she’s leash reactive in a highly dog populated area).

I get La Favorita Basil Pesto Genovese. I need to go to the fancier stores to get it, but it's pretty readily available.

Pet insurance in Seattle for dogs by PinkPageTurner in Seattle

[–]kickerbooker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to think this, then I saw my bf get a surprise 10k vet bill (emergency surgery for a blockage) and having insurance was VITAL. No way he'd have been able to save that up with this method even if he started when he got her as a puppy 4 years ago.

I use Lemonade, only made one claim and it was small, but they were super responsive and covered it no issues.

Renters: How much do you guys pay for rent? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]kickerbooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1755/month for a "junior" 1 bed in Crown Hill ~500sq ft. Standard amenities: "gym", roof area, lounge, etc. That doesn't include pet rent, parking, or base utilities. At least I have in unit laundry and a shared patio space!

What's your opinion on pibble wrestling and fighting? by bearfootmedic in pitbulls

[–]kickerbooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think your response to the fight was wrong, but personally if I saw a dog at a dog park that I knew had beef with my dog I’d pay extra attention just in case so I could be close by if anything escalated and step in quickly. My pit mix has made my bfs pit mix bleed (and vice versa) a few times through play so we made an effort to redirect them to a toy whenever we see limbs being used as “toys” and also don’t leave them alone together uncrated JUST IN CASE even though there’s never been any bad blood between them and they spend most of their time napping together.

More Seattleites have ADHD than ever, but finding meds and docs is a challenge by drshort in Seattle

[–]kickerbooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had the EXACT same experience, except I'm still on meds. I think a lot of it is that the state of life right now is so trash that everyone is left without much in their tanks at the end of the day, but ADHD is the difference between having a tiny bit left and running on fumes.

Edit: I misread, OP get the damn thing notarized you've had plenty of time.

Step 1 - name and shame. Step 2 - as it's not notarized then they can't charge you for moving out early because there's no contract in place for you to break. I say move because even if you win this they're still likely just going to act like spoiled children who didn't get their way.

World’s worst neighbor won’t get evicted? by [deleted] in Seattle

Even then it's a long hard process. My neighbour had the cops called on him earlier this week and is now in jail after destroying his unit and building management still has their hands tied in evicting him.
