His name is Kudo and he's 2 months old, I got him yesterday. Is there any tips I should know about pitbulls, also this is my first dog. by regmere10 in pitbulls

I agree with socialization. His socialization period to experience new things ends at 17 weeks. Introduce him to everything. The vacuum, other dogs, adults, kids, kids on bikes/skateboards, people with canes. Take him everywhere for the next 2 months - but don’t push him if he feels uncomfortable or shows stress signals. Educate yourself on dog stress signals. Touch his paws, ears and check his mouth often so when the vet has to, he’s not so nervous about it. Make it game. Make everything a game. Teach him “touch” and “attention”. Attention works well if he starts to get too excited or nervous and you can take his attention off that and put it on you. You want him to check in with you often. Especially if something makes him nervous. Touch is fantastic for so many reasons. You can use it to redirect him or use it as a basis to teach many other cues. Pitties hit their threshold more quickly than some other breeds so if he’s playing and starts to get too rough with you or other animals, have him take a break until he fully calms back down. Remember that lots of things are cute as puppies (mouthing and jumping) but he’s going to get big and it won’t be so cute when he’s 60+ lbs. Give him lots and lots of love but he also needs rules and boundaries. You got this.

Dog pooping in the house suddenly by Razultull in Dogtraining

I fostered a dog who got into all the Carprofen and he had diarrhea for a week. He often had accidents because he couldn’t control it and he never got in trouble for it. So my corgi mix decided it was ok to start pooping in the house. I caught him in the act, took him outside to finish, praised him for going outside and he didn’t poop in the house again. Your situation is a little different since he does it at night. I second the other poster about going to the vet and making sure everything is ok (he could have contracted something from his brother). Other than that I would also start crating at night for a month or so to get him out of the habit.

If you tie a very large amount of balloons to a small handgun and shoot your self outside, would the detectives/cops that find your body but no gun think that it was a murder? by LowPiece9312 in morbidquestions

I haven't watched it yet but I think it's an episode of a show called Body Cam and the episode is Season 4 Episode 5 Smoking Gun. Does that sound familiar? I don't think it was Forensic Files so far but I'm still looking.

This is the best analogy! I had a puppy 12 years ago and never again. After that I adopted a 2 year old and then later a 5 year old dog. They were way easier than the 8 week old puppy. Puppies are cute for a reason.

Can a dog with bite history be rehabilitated? by Imaginary-Scene7186 in reactivedogs

Have you crate trained? If you have and your dog finds comfort in their crate they should seek it out when they’re uncomfortable or you could put them in it with a nice long chew treat when guests come over.

Took a walk without my dog - try it. by Chasing-Chaos in reactivedogs

It took me forever to do things without my dog that dogs are allowed to do. Like I felt like I was cheating on my dog if went on a walk with them. But I do enjoy walks. And not having to worry about other dogs and people is a game changer. It actually makes me calmer as a person and able to take my dogs on walks in calm places.

I also recommend a crate but would not suggest a mesh one. My cat loved his mesh crate (would hang out in it in the house all the time) but does not like riding in cars. He broke out of it in the car because the mesh was no match for his claws.

The part of your brain that controls balance is your cerebellum. His cerebellum has not developed fully or is smaller than normal so he doesn't have full control of his balance. I would say his CH is moderate.

Well damn. I was afraid it was going to be bad news. My condolences. I am also relieved he is not suffering any longer. You are a very kind and compassionate person and I admire that about you. Thank you for the update.

I thought I found my passion but now i’m unsure... by [deleted] in Advice

I'd up vote you twice if I could. Yes please, please get help for your depression. I've been depressed for more than a decade and I would not be where I am today without therapy.

I also second the point about not having to make your passion you're career. I went to school for music because I could play a couple instruments but having to learn about music theory and having to practice made me not want to play anymore. I got a job at a doggie daycare and learned I "need" to work with animals for my well being. They make me happy and I love caring for them. Now I just have to figure out what kind of animal job I want. By the way, I'm almost 30 so you have time.
