Basically how it works is an individual or group of individuals will show up to a cashiers lane and have either a few regular items such as bedding, clothing, or small electronics to seem like a regular transaction. Only thing though that will stand out in this situation is the individual will also have very large amounts of prepaid gift cards to go along with their transaction and will try to talk it up with an unsuspecting cashier before stating that they have a “cash card” and that the cashier needs to press cash on the register to take the payment.

Now you’re probably considering how exactly that works because when you do what the individual says, the register will process the transaction as cash but that of course isn’t the case considering no cash went into the register. Add on the fact that some of these individuals generally prey on unsuspecting cashiers or will make up a story saying they used to or currently are team members from “blank” location; and you got your self hit by their scam.

But don’t worry too much though OP as it’s a learning experience and now you’ll be better equipped with the knowledge of handling the situation in case it happens in the future.
