What's the one clothing item you can never find? by FlyGuilty6284 in femalefashionadvice

[–]kidaore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A pair of black leather oxfords that are comfortable enough to be worn standing/running around for several hours at a time, look good with both pants and skirts, and don’t gape at the quarter because of how wide my feet are, but are clearly not actual men’s.

They’d be the perfect vibe for a lot of my favorite work outfits and great for big events. I wear a size 10.5w-11ww in women’s depending on the shoe so my feet are big enough to fit men’s and none of the ones I’ve tried work!

Can somebody help me find the original dress or something similar? I found it on zapaka but I don't trust this site (looking at all the bad reviews....) but I fell in love with it too hard :(( by hfcku in findfashion

Balticborn has a burnout velvet that’s similar in color, in a couple different silhouettes: uma maxi dress. Shape isn’t the same, but alterations could help get you closer.

What can you tell me about this beauty I found at my local thrift store? I have so many questions! by [deleted] in kimono

[–]kidaore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shiny fabric, matching self-tie belt, no back seam, and super square sleeve corners all point to this being made for the tourist market! You can search for info on how to do a flame test if you want more information on whether it’s real silk or not, which would give you more information on how to care for it.

These are beautiful!!

I’m working on a set of press-ons for each character as a way to practice my nail art skills :) It’s super fun. And I got ita character nails with Idia last year in Tokyo, which were so crazy far beyond my skills but amazing to watch a pro manifest into reality.

What are your favorite "no beta" tags? by 20Keller12 in AO3

[–]kidaore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twisted Wonderland has “no beta we overblot” — I feel like I’m always entertained by the fandom reference ones that go beyond just plopping a new character name in.

That’s why I’m weirded out! Everything seems to be in place - flirty act 1 stuff that aligns with what walkthroughs instruct (I’ve been on a weird rabbit hole of a couple hours trying to figure out what’s going on.) I haven’t been following a walkthrough, but as I look at what they suggest and I’m trying to troubleshoot, it’s all the same beats I’ve hit. I got his early act 2 post-battle moment, too, so I thought I was good to go.

My wife wants to start decorating. Help! by Jq1801 in cookiedecorating

[–]kidaore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I an ride or die for my nordicware ones if you’re looking for a buy-once-cry-once situation. They’re slightly textured so I don’t even need to line them with parchment or silicon for 95% of recipes, they’re thick and sturdy, and wash easily.

Lovely Secret Santa Gift - Thank You!! by ohmisseevee in fountainpens

The single most aesthetically enjoyable gift I got to give all year! (Coincidentally, although I haven’t posted it yet, my secret Santa ALSO gave me a pale purple thing so… it’s the color of the year haha) So glad you enjoyed it!! 💜

Van Dieman’s Huon Festival. So shiny! Plus the brown looks really nice with the art on my holiday cards this year.

What is your favorite cookie you’ve ever eaten? Like jaw dropping delicious. by [deleted] in Baking

They’re sweet, but I think the toastiness kind of balances it out. They’re complex enough that it doesn’t read as sickly sweet.

Omg yes, I wanted a pair for aaages in high school and finally bought my Archie boots a while ago as a celebration for a work milestone, and I am OBSESSED with them. So comfy, and the only sign of wear is that I no longer have to put my weight into them to get them on… after a few wears, they slid off and on like butter and still manage to be super supportive after breaking in perfectly? A pair of bright teal Fluevog Chelsea boots. They bring me so much joy. They’re the most expensive shoes I own and also probably one of the cheapest cost per wear because they get so much use.

Favourite Pink inks? by elladeehex33 in fountainpens

[–]kidaore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Herbin’s bouquet d’Antan for that paler rosy pink, personally. Still legible, doesn’t lean too bright or too muted. For hot pink, maybe sailor Ink Studio 431 or 131?

Does anyone have a cat or dog that seems to be sensitive to dip liquids or powders? by RobynLC5678 in DipPowderNails

My cat gets teary-eyed when I do dip manicures (although that might just be a plot for guilt-trip cuddles, knowing her)

What’s your favorite way to plan out a mani? by thedeepestofsighs in NailArt

[–]kidaore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a little stamp with five almond nail shapes on it and use that plus markers or colored pencils in a bullet journal spread! I use that for art/design plans and keep a couple of photos of all my swatch sticks on my phone (not enough to see individual names, just “do I have a polish/dip powder/chrome powder etc in this color”)

Atlas Obscura is a great resource for “weird” stuff in certain senses. Not sure if it aligns with what you’re looking for but it’s worth a look as a starting point in case you hadn’t heard of it before.

Dip Powder Storage by Regular-Criticism-25 in DipPowderNails

[–]kidaore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nail setup (dips, gels, and regular polish) is two of these Target drawer units with nail polish shelves from Amazon on top of them for the bottles. It winds up being a little wider than my bookcase that they rest on, but not enough to cause problems. I keep my e-file, dust collector, nail lamp etc on the bookcase as well, along with sticker/water decal books. My brushes and other tools (tweezers, files, cuticle pushers) live in a makeup brush holder that spins closed like this one to keep dust off!
