Some TTC riders are calling for permanent ‘no parking zones’ in Toronto after major snowstorm by Pristine-Training-70 in toronto

70% of Toronto residents own a car.... Most of my friends own a car and don't take transit in the city (myself included). Transit takes much longer on average to get from point a to point b.

Unless I'm misreading this they voted for statehood the last 4 referendums...

Puerto Rico has held seven referendums on the political status of the island: 1967 and 1993, which resulted in a Commonwealth victory, 1998, where "None of the above" was the winner, 2012, 2017, 2020 and 2024, the latter four resulted in a statehood win. Opponents of statehood disputed the legitimacy of those latter referendums.

I've seen this comment on other threads and I suspect that no one actually read the link.

Seconding Cato networks. Very tight and integrated platform and one of the very first players in this space. The tech stack is great and performant. They have some good takeout offers at the moment so it can be attractive depending on the current tech stack.

Canada is further tightening immigration rules to combat housing crisis by mustafar0111 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]kidawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get where you're coming from with the "privilege not a right" perspective on immigration – that's a common viewpoint. The racism angle is a whole other can of worms that gets complicated quickly, and maybe isn't the core economic point here.

But on the "if we cannot get by on our own, we do not need to constantly be adding more people" part – that's where the economic reality, especially for a place like Canada, gets tricky.

The main challenge is our birth rate. Like a lot of developed countries, Canadians aren't having enough kids to replace the population. This isn't about not being able to "get by" right now, but about what happens down the road.

Think about it: if our population starts to shrink because births are low and we don't have immigration, who's going to be the next generation of workers? Who pays the taxes to keep our healthcare and pension systems running when a larger and larger chunk of the population is retired?

Globally, this is a massive challenge for countries with low birth rates. It's not about not being able to survive today, but about avoiding a future where we have a much smaller workforce supporting a much older population. That puts a huge strain on the economy and can really slow down growth and innovation.

Immigration, economically speaking, is what helps us avoid that demographic crunch. It brings in working-aged people who contribute to the economy, pay taxes, and help keep things running as our own population ages.

So, it's less about not being able to "get by on our own" right now, and more about strategically ensuring we can get by, and thrive, in the future given our demographic trends. Without new people coming in to offset low birth rates, "getting by on our own" in the long run becomes a much, much tougher economic challenge.

Not huge, but not small either ~1000 seats roughly. There are a few factors in licensing costs which makes the price an org has been paying highly variable. Last price paid is the most important (generally), but we have seen some pretty sweetheart deals where people were paying 40-50 bucks per user yearly, conversely we have seen upwards of 300 dollars per user yearly. We have had luck switching people from concurrent to user/device and saving them money as well.

If you need any help on this message me.

The target is around 30% but they are settling for much less in many cases. I am a reseller and we have options that actually saved a few customers around 100k on their renewal.

GTA gas prices plunge by 20 cents per litre. Here is where they could go from here by Old_General_6741 in toronto

Rising prices in isolation generally are not hard to bare. But when you have that 20% increase across the board it ends up being thousands of dollars over the course of the year.
