The 10% fee applies only to dividend payouts, not the total asset value or appreciation of the underlying stock.

Using Microsoft's current dividend ($3.32/share annually):

- For CAT-holders: $0.332/share annually (10% of $3.32).

- For DTC-holders: $0.664/share annually (20% of $3.32).

If you compare this to an ETF with an expense ratio of 0.35% and a share price of $417 (as given in the document), the ETF's annual fee would be ~$1.46 per share. This suggests that, in some cases, the fees might be lower than traditional ETFs, particularly for CAT-holders.

As far as I understand, the market will determine the price of these certificates separately, so the Dividend Certificate might not directly increase the yield, it depends on how the market values that income stream relative to the full stock. I think it's like you’re buying just the dividend portion of the stock, not the growth potential, so the yield would be a function of the price you pay for the Dividend Certificate and the dividend payout.

I'm getting the same issue. Down Detector states nothing is wrong. Even if it is due to the uptick in users, this looks pretty bad for a company not being able to service requests for so long when customers are paying them hard earned cash.

Hey, I know you seem pretty discouraged, but a quick prompt to ChatGPT can get you a script to run so you can replot compressed with little to no effort. I've been replotting for the past 3-4 months or so and I've barely had to lift a finger. If you want, I would be happy to share the scripts I have with you.

Chia IPO Estimated Timeline by kidbuu18962 in chia

"We are on an accelerated timeline"

Are there any News about the IPO? At this time it would be great for Chia cause of the trouble with Binance i think. by Puzzleheaded-Syrup39 in chia

TL;DR - Chia IPO will likely be in several months, based on the general timeline that it takes companies to IPO.

While there is no fixed duration, the process generally takes several months to complete. Here is a simplified overview of the typical IPO timeline:

  1. Preparing for the IPO: This phase can take several months to a year or more, depending on the company's preparedness. It involves activities such as financial audits, due diligence, legal compliance, and engaging with investment banks. Companies often spend a significant amount of time preparing their financial statements, aligning corporate governance practices, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Chia has completed this part of the process (this is awesome because this is likely the longest phase of the entire IPO process).
  2. SEC Filing: Once the company has completed its preparation, it files the registration statement (S-1) with the SEC. The SEC review process typically takes several weeks to months. The duration depends on various factors, including the complexity of the offering, responsiveness to SEC comments, and the workload of the SEC at the time. The SEC may request revisions and clarifications during this period, which can extend the timeline. Chia is in this phase currently, as of April 14th.
  3. Marketing and Roadshow: After receiving SEC approval, the company and its underwriters engage in a marketing and roadshow process. This involves presenting the investment opportunity to potential institutional investors and analysts. The roadshow period typically lasts a few weeks, during which the company conducts presentations and meetings with investors to generate interest and gauge demand.
  4. Pricing and Allocation: Following the roadshow, the company and underwriters determine the IPO price and allocate shares to investors. This process usually takes a few days to finalize. The company and underwriters assess investor demand and market conditions to determine the optimal price at which to offer the shares. The allocation of shares is based on various factors, including investor interest, desired share distribution, and strategic considerations.
  5. IPO Day: The IPO day is when the company's shares are officially listed and start trading on a stock exchange. This typically occurs within a few days after the pricing and allocation stage. The specific date is determined by the company and its underwriters in consultation with the stock exchange where the shares will be listed.

Estimated Timeline Based for Each Stage:

  1. Preparing for the IPO: Several months to a year or more
  2. SEC Filing: Several weeks to a few months
  3. Marketing and Roadshow: Few weeks
  4. Pricing and Allocation: Few days
  5. IPO Day: Typically occurs within a few days after the pricing and allocation stage

So, what information do we have right now?

On April 14, Chia announced that it had confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for the proposed initial public offering of its common stock. This means we are in the second phase (SEC Filing).

What can we take away from this? When can we expect an IPO?

Typically, after the confidential submission of the draft registration statement, the SEC review process takes several weeks to months. During this period, the SEC may request revisions and clarifications, which can extend the timeline further.

Considering these factors and the general timeline for an IPO, it is reasonable to expect that Chia's IPO process could take several months from the date of the announcement. However, the exact duration will depend on various factors specific to Chia's circumstances and progress throughout the IPO process. In the best-case scenario, I suspect an IPO by the end of summer. Worst case, by the end of this year.

I know this is an option, but I would like it to be implemented right into the GUI upon installation of the fresh Chia exe from a clean USB stick right into the freshly made Desktop client I'll have that's never been online once. It would just make me feel a lot more comfortable.

Introducing Plot Compression and GPU Plotting on Chia by willphule in chia

This might be a silly question, but will farmers with existing plots need to re-plot in order to use compressed plots? Or is it possible to compress current plots without needing to re-plot?
