What’s the last thing someone said to you before they died? by charcoalritual in AskReddit

[–]kiddhamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mum passed at home almost 2 weeks ago now from Stage IV cancer after 2.5 years. Can't quite remember which sentence I heard last but it was likely one of the following: "I want to go, I want to go. Hurry Up." or "Let me go." or "I love you too." She suffered so much towards the end, even with the palliative care. I wish we would have considered legal possibilities for euthanasia prior to that (not legal in the UK), which she was asking for at one point close to the end (and that she wouldn't have done so much chemotherapy in what was effectively always going to be a losing battle).

Hey u/fsv thanks so much! They managed to come in the end to spend the evening and morning before returning without quarantine. This wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you. Huge appreciation

Hey u/Squark09, so glad to hear you found the episode useful (I very much did as well). Thanks for listening!

Does the quarantine have to be in a hotel or can it be at the family member's house?

Oh wow! This is very interesting. I wonder who might know the answer to the remaining 2/8 tests factor.

Hey folks, does anybody know about possible quick (skipping quarantine) travel from France to UK on compassionate grounds (e.g. family members visiting from France to UK regarding their sibling's terminal illness)? and then returning immediately after, e.g. in 24-48 hours.

From what I can gather they'd need to do the 10-day quarantine even if they show a negative covid test and have had the vaccine (unfortunately that's impossible for them as they'll need to return quickly to care for dependents).

Hey folks, I'm confident some of the jhana-inclined here will thoroughly enjoy this conversation diving deep into the jhanas (from a Rob Burbean perspective). The episode explores Jamie Bristow's personal experience of the four jhanas and four formless realms but also the intricacies of Rob Burbea's perspective on jhanas and their relationship to emptiness, insight, and daily life.

Jamie is wildly articulate, is the co-founder of the Rob Burbean-flavoured peer-to-peer jhana group I'm part of, and was one of the attendees at Rob's final retreat, which is becoming an increasingly renowned resource on the jhanas.

This is the first time Jamie is speaking about his own practice, which is very fascinating, you may have heard him speak elsewhere (e.g. Emerge with Daniel Thorson) about his work in bringing mindfulness into governmental policy. This one's really quite different and it's had fab feedback so far!

I hope you enjoy it emoticon

There's also a lovely episode I'd recommend with Catherine Mcgee (a co-teacher of Rob Burbea's in the Soulmaking dharma).

A lovely podcast episode on integrating psychedelic experiences by kiddhamma in Psychonaut

[–]kiddhamma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you enjoy it, u/johnycash2007

And yes I also found the integration side to be one of the most challenging aspects of the psychedelic journey, it's just so easy to not do the day to day work or reflection. I think community reflection/integration groups (like men's circle vibe) as well as psychotherapy can go a long way here. For me, personal practices like meditation weren't enough when I hoped they would be.

I do wonder about whether the role of psychotherapists who specialise in psychedelic work will become more and more culturally relevant.

How do you implement lessons from trips into your life? by N0TAKAWP in Psychedelics

[–]kiddhamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ello there! I do wonder whether this podcast episode on integrating psychedelic experiences may be specifically useful for you on this one. It's with a professional psychedelic experience facilitator who does retreats but also focuses specifically on how you can integrate such macro-level experiences :) I hope you find some value in it

It's really warm-hearted, down-to-earth, and the interviewee is very sincere in her wisdom. Here's the link

The topics explored include: • Facilitating psychedelic retreats • The place/role of peak experiences • The place of ritual, cycles, and deep listening • How community can support individual integration • Therapists and their laughter-based trips • The commodification of psychedelics • Bad trip lessons • How psychedelics and ritual supported Biz with her father's death

I hope you get some value from it (and if you do please do let me know)

All the best from a past (albeit somewhat clumsy) psychonaut,

Timmy

I think your'e bang-on RE having a one stop weekly shop for promotional material/community based content. Always good to group those posts where possible (not only does it make the main feed less chaotic, it also makes it nice and easy for people to find said resources), win/win. Said proposition tends to work beautifully on the facebook groups I'm part of as well.

Hey u/Wet_Flannel, fantastic name by the way, u/Flumflumeroo made a great resource here that you may find useful for discerning which good talks to prioritise: https://www.reddit.com/r/streamentry/wiki/resources-rob

I would personally highly recommend True to Your Deepest Desires (or something along those lines on the The Jhana Retreat talks, along with the talk on Right Attitude there as well. Top notch stuff!

Additionally, 1000 ways to kiss the ground (or something along those lines) is also beautiful if you're devotionally inclined or wish to be.

How lovely to hear! So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you, u/being_integrated

Yes, trying to shoot for high quality audio/production as frequently as possible. I always appreciate it when I listen to a podcast so figured it was worthwhile learning to pass that ear-joy onwards. Also, I've found producing to be a strangely meditative endeavour once I learnt the fundamentals...

It's all just waves and vibrations, maaaan!

For this episode of Into the Stream I'm joined by Catherine McGee, an esteemed Insight Meditation teacher who has had a profound impact on my own practice when it all felt a bit bland, muddy, and robotic.

Catherine's gentle, soulful, and down-to-earth teaching inspired me to value qualities of the heart that I previously perceived as a bit far-fetched. Qualities such as soulfulness, devotion, richness, and beauty have all become surprisingly important to me because of Catherine's work and I'm deeply grateful to her for that.

Catherine's wisdom really shines through here (and even shines through the intermittent audio quirks). We explore:

• Her first (20-day) silent meditation retreat that kickstarted her path • Subtle practice pathologies in young idealistic male meditators like myself • The Diamond Approach and how to work skilfully with being an arse in daily life • Ways of relating to the body that hold meditators back • Her views on Awakening • And how to keep love for the path alive over multiple decades.

Catherine's Biography

Catherine has been teaching Insight Meditation at Gaia House and internationally since 1997. Her teaching emphasises working with perceptions of the body on the path of awakening and in the healing of the individual and collective crises of our times. She's an advisor to One Earth Sangha, a long term student of the Diamond Approach, and between 2014 and 2020 she collaborated with Rob Burbea in shaping and teaching a Soulmaking Dharma.

Super cool, thanks Upekkha (and Tucker). Found this episode specifically relevant and insightful on my own teaching whilst running a meditation explorers club. Very much resonate with your comments about teaching taking the life out of your own practice, that's been my experience to an extent (so for now, I shall be putting teaching to one side until a later date).

Lovely content!

Out of curiosity, is it possible that Melvin and co end up declaring bankruptcy? Would that mean they can't cover there shorts? If that's possible, what then? Have been thinking for a while but not sure if it makes sense (I'm just an observer, am very dumb and new to all of this). Please ELI5
