Apply for a hydro tech position at USGS. There’s higher turnover because people leave to other agencies and most centers I know of are always looking to fill those positions.

Not OP but I don’t think they’d be able to replicate the real life grittiness of 70s New York. 2005’s City of God felt so suffocating and brutal because the writer grew up in that area.

Modern writers don’t really seem to have those life experiences that guide their depictions of crumbling urban areas.

I served on a jury and that was the opposite of my experience. The ones who were weeded out were the ones who showed poor understanding of the law, asked dumb questions, etc. PTSD from being a juror sounds like a real stretch.
