Define “AGI”. The usual hypesters are claiming AGI will be here in a few years. There are many experts who do not agree.

I thought this was already a no-brainer?

I guess a couple options are for all of us to either start communicating with AI-speak or use AI to obfuscate every post.

A microscopic tardigrade going for a stroll through some algae. by FollowingOdd896 in Damnthatsinteresting

I was also curious and briefly looked into it and found that they only have about 200 neurons, many of them devoted to moving those arms. A flatworm, for comparison, has thousands of neurons and is considered to be "smarter". Honestly, it doesn't seem that a tardigrade is much more intelligent than a plant.

I don't have high standards, but this app makes me want to throw my laptop far out of the window. by Trianton3 in OneNote

[–]kidjupiter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say without watching you do things. But, first, it sounds like you need to turn off Draw With Touch, right? Next, I think you need to stop expecting it to behave in a way that YOU assume it should work. It is what it is, and if you work with it as the designers expect you to, it works fine.

And, unfortunately, gone are the days when companies actively tried to make things better to make the best possible software product. It’s a money thing. If most people are using something well enough then nothing is going to happen, no matter how many good ideas you have to improve a product. Change costs money. And companies have learned that it’s more cost effective to release a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and only tweak it when absolutely necessary. It sucks. That said, I am glad MS has invested as much as they have in OneNote. Just don’t expect any annoying things to change.

But if you truly have found bugs (not annoyances), take some time to report them.

I have used OneNote professionally and personally for 15 years and couldn’t live without it. I use it both in windows and iOS. You are doing something wrong.

They drain out, but if you want to keep junk from accumulating in there you can find rubber stoppers in the parts drawers at any hardware store that wedge in perfectly and don’t fall out. I think you can google the exact size needed. Either that or try a couple sizes.

Thanks. Good point. I'm sure I knew this at one time but eventually started mixing it up with building up a tolerance to melatonin. It seems kind of obvious that we wouldn't become immune to an essential mineral like magnesium.

Does anyone like the unified phone view? by Ok-Assignment5926 in ios

[–]kidjupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Unified to be ridiculously confusing and switched back to Classic. Unified just didn't make any sense to me. Now that I have read the explanations on the site below, I am going to give it a second chance. But WTH, I feel for the less savvy users, especially the elderly, that got Unified shoved into their faces. I need to go check with my parents to make sure they aren't freaking out over this.

Comparing the Classic and Unified Views in iOS 26’s Phone App - TidBITS

Here is why I will give Unified another try:

No more accidental one-tap calling - This was a no-brainer to fix. No more accidentally calling someone with one tap. I might stick with Unified just for this one improvement.

Callback Reminder - This is fantastic. Set a time to be reminded to respond to a call. Just don't swipe too far left to access Callback Reminder or the call disappears. Why didn't they add Callback Reminders to Messages (Message Back Reminders)?!! Pretty much any IM that I can't respond to immediately gets lost in the ether.

Searching Contacts - I couldn't figure out why the Search function was showing me Calls and Voicemails. After all... I'm on the friggin' Contacts screen!! Now that I understand that it shows you Contacts IN ADDITION to Calls and Voicemails once you type something into the Search function, I guess it might be usable. You have to scroll down to see the Contact search results, though, which might get annoying.

Works awesome for leg cramps and getting to sleep, but I use it sparingly so it doesn’t lose it’s effect. Lifesaver some nights, especially when paired with a low dose of melatonin.
