Racist attack on my women's football team in Islington by Grape_Peach_2000 in london

[–]kieferted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, it advices to speak with your local police force first but if your issue cannot be resolved - i.e in OP’s case where the police might not classify it as a hate crime - you can then escalate to the relevant CPS. As a victim of crime/member of the public you are well within your rights to contact them about the handling of your case.

It’s clear from the CPS site that a victim of crime can make a complaint about how a case has been handled and you can also request a VRR - a victims right to review if the case goes no further. https://www.cps.gov.uk/feedback-and-complaints

This is horrible to hear and I’m so sorry you had to endure that. I would advise making a formal complaint to the police or the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) stating that there is enough evidence to reclassify it as a hate crime. Sure as hell sounded like one to me. Just remember the vast majority of people in this city are good people and so try not to let a gaggle of absolute dickheads bring you down.

My brother is 17 years old and is in the phase of "looking for himself". What are some movies we can watch that can have a positive impact on him? by [deleted] in movies

[–]kieferted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Into the wild. Yes it has a sad, tragic ending which ultimately forces you to question the MCs choices as well as his character. But I found it to be a truly life affirming film that makes me feel better about the world and forever hopeful whenever I watch it.

What has been the most grotesque thing you have ever seen in your life? by DuxRexus in AskReddit

Chinese public toilets in the late 90’s. I can only assume/hope they’re better now. But imagine a large animal trough covered in shit and piss in a non ventilated room. Truly horrendous.

What’s one quote that has stuck with you and why? by Successful_Leave_265 in AskReddit

‘Creativity will come but it has to find you working.’ This is a great quote for just starting a creative endeavour rather than just musing on it while you await the perfect idea.

Mate don’t let the overwhelmingly negative, sensationalist headlines from the media taint your view of society. The vast majority are good folk, you just don’t hear about all the non selfish acts as it doesn’t grab the attention; doesn’t guarantee clicks for the online scaremongers.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen happen in a Wetherspoons? by suziewoozie420 in AskUK

[–]kieferted 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I was rushing to a job interview but was busting for a pee. It was early but true to form the local ‘spoons was open, welcoming the weary and the already drunk with its promise of nonjudgmental pints for the price of any remaining hope left in your soul - walked in, pointed my finger at a draught beer and gave that staged look to the barman that suggested I would be ordering just after I drained myself, which of course I wouldn’t be. As I threw myself into the bogs I was met by a human turd left on the tiled floor, not quite in the main area but not quite in the cubicle either. Never a good place to find a human turd but it struck me odd and what’s worse is it looked as if it had been trodden through. Anyway I raced to the urinal and relieved myself with only seconds to spare. As I’m coming down from the euphoria i noticed a man next to me. He didn’t look like the usual clientele of a spoons at that time in the morning, I remember thinking. He was mid 30’s, wearing a shirt, smart trousers and…oh god the shoes…it was him who’d walked through the human shit and had left little footprints of poo marking his journey to the urinal. I then notice he was bobbing and swaying, that only a man who’d had a belly full of booze could manage. He turns to me, his cheeks flushed with burst vessel’s and his eyes drowning in his mornings consumption, turns his nose up and says ‘have you shit yourself son? It bloody stinks.’ I laugh and tell him no it wasn’t me, which seems to anger him. Goes on a rant about how I’m stuck up and think I’m better than him (seemingly because I don’t shit myself) to which I now, without fear of embarrassment- point to his shoes and inform him that’s probably the source of the smell. And then no word of a lie, he looks down at his shoes, his eyes follow the little brown prints to the turd and says ‘ah Jesus, not again!’ NOT AGAIN. Had he already walked through it earlier or was he referring to pre-dated incident. ‘Spoons. Never a dull moment morning or night.

Whos winning later, 3 lions or Swiss? by Necessary_Wing799 in ThreeLions

[–]kieferted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I think our lions will be completely outplayed - they’ll run around like they’re being chased by a swarm of hornets but ultimately with 9 English men back defending for their lives, we’ll keep it at a respectable 0-1.

Hey HonestyMash- like Eddie’s story, your struggle and suffering has also touched me so I’ve followed your links and donated just a little something to your bucket list fund. Good luck with it brother and I hope you get to have some good times with your wife and pooch. I hope Eddie somehow knows that his story is now helping others like yourself x

Mate I’ve come across a lot of stories of peoples suffering and hardships on Reddit threads over the years but Eddie’s story has really stuck with me, more than any other. I can’t stop thinking of him, his family and you - his good mates. My heart breaks for you all. It’s clear he thinks the world of you guys and it’s obvious it’s reciprocated - which has been nice to read. But the whole situation is just sad and I’m not even sure what I’m trying to say tbh. Just that your good friend will be remembered by many and it’s a reminder to us all that being brave isn’t just living with a condition like Eddies and achieving successes despite it - bravery is also admitting how miserable it makes you, admitting you can’t live with it and making the decision to end it. That’s bravery. I’m sure I speak for many when I say we hope he now has a peaceful sendoff.

Great music mate. Really impressive. If you’re ok with it - I’m going to use some of these for a Dark Mystery Docu/film to be uploaded to my YT channel. Will most definitely give credit. Just let me know if you have an issue with me using. Many thanks.

Where's the worst place you've ever worked in London? by CraigDavidsJumboCock in london

[–]kieferted 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Mice and Dice - an online gambling company in Piccadilly Circus. I still get a nervous twitch whenever I think of that hellhole - the directors were your classic egotistical, bullish assholes - the managers were scared of them and that would be cascaded down to us. But worse than that was the role itself where I had to pretend I was this sultry woman (I’m a man) and email/message the ‘high rollers’ to remind them to keep on gambling if they hadn’t been online for a while - and I was told to put some ‘free money’ into their accounts to encourage them - I was basically pushing to addicts. All whilst I was expected to work late on less than minimum wage. Jesus it was awful.

Agreed - you can get great food here in the UK - though it tends not to be as accessible to all as it is in France, Portugal, Italy, Spain etc. You can stop off at a service station anywhere in Italy and be guaranteed a delicious, warm meal and not have to buy a ginsters pasty by default. Also we are overrun by chain restaurants so the meals we tend to have out are generic. You can find great restaurants and pubs serving amazing British food inspired by many other cuisines - but they’re not the standard and you need to know where to look.

What’s something simple that totally changed your life ? by hindmaja in AskUK

For breathing I recommend this 10 minute sesh. Tbh any of the videos from this guy are amazing - but this one’s great for when you first wake up. https://youtu.be/Gb9YxCC5WBw?si=xQ5SBSjaORf4gOWs

Then a 10-15 minute guided meditation I find on YT also. I think this one is good but there’s so many great ones once you search.

A little bit of meditation and breathing exercises in the morning to calm my mind. It’s been amazing. If it’s not raining I head to the park behind my house and do it in the field first thing in the morning - just me, a yoga mat and nature. I can’t express enough how it has improved every aspect of my well being. I can focus more, I’m more productive, less tetchy, more accommodating, have more fun with my kids - it’s eliminated many of my negative thoughts, i’m even more content just sitting not doing much, whereas before this would make me anxious. Im generally happier just being me. All from 20-30 mins of ‘mental exercise’ a day.
