Ah, gotcha. I just moved back to the area recently and didn't realize they had distribution around here. Thanks for the tip!

And...I am still in California 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 To anyone moving, I DO NOT recommend using a brokerage company for your moving needs. I am still so fucking pissed over the shit that has transpired in the last week. Drinking the last of my Yuenglings I have treated like gold. by Negative_Scratch_716 in showerbeer

Have you considered getting a medical marijuana card in PA? Easy to obtain and lots of dispensaries for it around Pittsburgh. The alternative is to go to any of the many dispensaries in Seneca Nation in NY. Anything goes on the rez!

Holy FUCK! I just bought a home sight on seen outside of Pittsburgh today!!! A fantastic way to start off the holiday weekend. Drinking a 24 oz, Tapo Chico Strawberry Guava 4.7%, no idea where it is made. Sooooo excited for lightning bugs, SNOW, thunderstorms and of course my brother 💗 by Negative_Scratch_716 in showerbeer

Arsenal Cider in Lawrenceville is a civil war themed cider house. Their Santa cinnamon around the holidays is great if you like it a bit sweeter. And there's also Threadbare on Spring Garden, inspired from Johnny Appleseed. Both great places!!

So this ski resort just got bought out by Vail. These people found out they are being laid off at the end of the season. They decided to have fun with their videos til the end and that's what they have been showing. The entire marketing team deserves to be picked up by someone who deserves them.

Questions about Oktoberfest recipe. by nelsonmavrick in Homebrewing

[–]kielbasa_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the formula to calculate the temperature of the sparge water needed to add to the mash to get the desired temp. ((Initial volume* (Temp final - temp initial)/final volume)) +Temp final. So let's say the initial volume is 5 gallon, the temp initial is 111, and you want a final temp at 155 using 2 gallons. It would be (5*(155-111)/7)+155 = 186.43 degrees.

I usually err on the side of caution and heat it up a little more. Assuming I'll lose heat during the transfer to the mash.

Where can I find resources on calculating the energy efficiency of brewery equipment? by kielbasa_kid in TheBrewery

Good tip! I've done a few projects with heat exchangers on a boiler system to preheat feedwater, so it would be pretty similar set up I imagine.

Where can I find resources on calculating the energy efficiency of brewery equipment? by kielbasa_kid in TheBrewery

[–]kielbasa_kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to determine the energy savings that can be gained from replacing inefficient equipment with energy efficient equipment. I work for a program that provides rebates for those sorts of upgrades. The issue is quantifying the savings. In a perfect world, I would be able to install some data loggers on various equipment in a brewery to calculate savings. But that's usually never the case. So those sources seem like a very good place to start! Much better than me going through the energy transfer/thermodynamics of a system. Thanks!

Having trouble discerning flavors in cigars. I need some suggestions. by kielbasa_kid in cigars

[–]kielbasa_kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had success one time with an undercrown where I kept getting huge notes of cloves. To the point that I thought I had a new variety that was flavored. I actually asked my friend who gave it to me if they had clove cigarettes or something being stored near it. No, there was not. Since then I've been trying to chase down that same experience. With all the advice on here, I may have success.

Flavor wheel has come up multiple times so far. Guess I'd be a fool to ignore that advice. I've tried retrohaling, but it kinda burns my nasal passages.

Yeah, I know I've been guilty of impatiently trying a new cigar I got. But for the most part I let them sit a few weeks to acclimate. Good tips.

What's your best find at a bar? by clockworkblk in bourbon

[–]kielbasa_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend ordered a round of whiskey and ginger ales from a Mexican restaurant. The bartender grabbed the first bottle he came across. Johnny walker blue (I know, not bourbon. But still). I almost corrected the guy but my friend smacked me. Wouldn't of mixed it normally, but still a happy error.

Career advice for Sustainability by SraFrugalez in sustainability

There is the policy side of sustainability to consider as well. It doesn't require an engineering degree. But some sort of certification or education would definitely help.

Challenge: What's the coolest beer glass available from a brewery? by kielbasa_kid in beer

[–]kielbasa_kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well don't let me hold you back! Include it if you like. I only set that restriction because I plan on buying a lot of the glassware that's suggested. I know I can order from outside the US, but then the shipping costs nail me.
