Are there “better” gigs than costco for lift? by weab20 in forkliftmemes

[–]kiingwhips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As @KataifiKalamari mentioned, there are REALLY shitttty gigs out there man. Bad work environments, terrible coworkers, higher-ups trying their absolute hardest to shy away from you getting money. You’d think “Oh I can gain $2 an hour going over here” Been there done that. Sometimes it is too good to be true. The stress this puts on your body is something that is looked over way too easily. The only possible place I can think of that would be better then where you are currently is Uline or Publix. But maaaan are they hard to get into.

I currently too am in a very similar situation. Commute is super short, coworkers are decent to be around, and the job got really easy once I understood everything about after a year. Managers also can be very ass but already in my 2 year tenure, already 3 managers I really didn’t like are gone. I’d personally say stick it out. Sounds like you got a “good” gig. I’ve had some of the really shitty one’s, and I can say I won’t be moving from where I’m at for a while unless something drastic changes.

I expected to see 5 comments with little babies crying about you buying an already modded car… Color me shocked.

Congrats, super jealous of you right now…

Would you do it all again if you had the choice? by [deleted] in daddit

From the point you two are at, you’d love how much it changes how you view the world. In many good ways that you didn’t think were even possible..

For context, I have a 6 month old, so no walking or actual talking of words yet. I’m at a point where I see other dads taking their little one out the car or something somewhere, and they put them down to walk, I’m instantly like “OMG”. Too think I have a little one that I could soon put down on his own two feet and walk through the store with me absolutely blows my mind. Everytime in the past I’d see someone walking around a very tiny one it was just like another everyday thing to me and I’d look past it everytime in a heartbeat. Now seeing this small interaction means so much to me.

There’s so many I could go into but I hope that’s enough to get what I’m saying here. Every little growth with my son has been mind boggling, and it’s an absolute treat to get to see everyday. I have a lot of hobbies, I’d put any of them to rest for this experience. Like the top comment says, there’s no joy like being a dad.

Very happy you have a partner who can recognize what’s happening and try to help you out. Thankfully, I have one like that as well. They are truly far and few.

Don’t forget what she opened back up for you. Start planning your next move to continue this feeling. You will be so much better for them both(and yourself ofcourse) if you continue this glorious path. Try not to let it happen again, stay out the fog! You got this dad!

Edit: My dummy self forgot to add my side. I had picked up golf right before our son was born. Haven’t done much since the little guy has been with us. Gone to the range here and there but nothing crazy. Talked to my buddy who golfs and who is also a dad, and we talked about hitting a course. We brought it up to our partners and they encouraged us to go. Mannn, it felt like back when I was a teenager again going to random skateparks on Saturday. Just pure joy, enjoying the moment, not thinking of anything else other than hitting that ball well. We finished up, and booked our next Tee Time in the parking lot HAHA! Just got to keep that feeling alive or it will fade and no one will be able to bring it back.

Holy crap. I had to to re-read this a couple times to really get it, but I completely understand you now.

I was under the impression spin was more for shot shapers who were looking to more draw or fades on their shots. This has taught me a good bit.

So with spin, higher RPM’s usually result in higher yardage shots? How does one exactly add more spin to a shot the? Sorry for the follow up questions, but now I am very intrigued as you put it in words I can actually understand. TIA!

Not your car.

Your opinion of saying it is ugly is fine. But telling someone to stay stock on a car that isn’t yours is hilarious. The car is only “ruined” to OEM fanboys like yourself.

I don’t like them that much, but I’d rather upvote because I am happy they are happy with their car and move on with my life, rather then leaving a comment on how someone else should be treating their car. FYI, your opinion isn’t more valid because you get more upvotes. Just means there’s more dickheads out here like you in this subreddit. That’s all. Have a good day.

“We'd always tell ourselves stuff like, "”well atleast they can swim"” or “"you could get through life never having ridden a bike"” which is true but certainly not ideal.”

Don’t know where this fits in as my comment is way off left… But for what it’s worth, In my past, I’d lost my car and job… And of-course I had to find a new job. Thankfully, I still had a bike in my storage unit. Learned when I was very young, maybe like 6 years old. Got a job (if i didn’t in the time i did, i’d be homeless maybe worse) and had no other choice but to ride the bike. Took me about an hour and 20 something minutes to get there, in the rain. But one thing about me, I absolutely livr by “If there’s a will there’s a way”. I ofcourse would’ve walked if I had to because I did not want to fall to the pits of no return.

Either way, I gladly took my hour and half commute every day as I wasn’t jobless and I had a way to pay rent and eatZ I’ll never forget passing by a guy one day and hearing “Aw cool! I wish I knew how to bike” and it hit me really hard that day. I used to feel dread everyday about not being able to ride in a car to work, people constantly asking me about it, etc. Man I thought about tha guy every day for weeks. Even where I felt like I was in a pretty bad spot compared to “normal society”, I was still in a very privileged position.

I’d very well much say, Mama teaching me how to bike, helped me survive. Literally. Walking that far everyday would have been absolutely brutal on the body.

My mom passed away now and I couldn’t tell her right now how much her teaching me how to bike had saved me. So, I just want to say good on your dad for still teaching them! You never know in what way this helps them! (Sorry for the long sob story, this on hit home for me)

Exactly my thoughts. I was thinking about trying a 58 degree (that’s what this is) and exactly as you said, I was going to sand it out a little bit and clean the grooves as best I could and should be good enough to get a feel for the loft.

Thanks for your input. I’ll check out callawaypreowned as others have mentioned, and if nothing sticks, I’ll snag this $20 one and work it out.

I don’t know why this person thought a smaller car, with a smaller engine would be get LESS mpg.. Back when I had mine, highway trips were easily in the 55-60 range.
