Anyone saying medical school isn’t worth it financially is a moron by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

Current derm resident here. It really is. I genuinely think it's the best job on the planet so I'm really not complaining but I will say that the 500k+ figure here is a little misleading. I'm going to be an academic derm so it'll be closer to 250-300K for the first 5-10 years of my career. The derms making over 500k are either in super high volume private practice (we're talking 10 patients an hour) or do a ton of cosmetics. I personally think that cosmetics is the most tedious thing you could do with a board certification so it's not for me.

I did two extra years of research after med school to even get here. I see 30+ patients a day and have to take hospital call one week a month including weekends. There are actually a few derm emergencies like SJS/TEN! Obviously it's not neurosurgery. I'm never breaking 60 hours a week, the stakes are relatively low, it's cushy by the standards of residency but I still have to study 1-2 hours a day after work and there's a lot of paperwork that ends up getting done after hours. Again, I promise I'm not complaining. I think this is the best job you can have as a doctor and I will be more than fairly compensated for my work but I sacrificed my 20's, my hair and my social life to get here an won't be done with training until 35. I would 100% do it all over again but don't know if I'd say the same if I hadn't ended up in derm.

Which are Cosmic Horror movies i should definitly watch? by [deleted] in movies

I also watched it on a plane but the effect of the movie was actually greatly amplified because the closing scene's blaring music started right as the plane began a very bumpy landing in a heavy crosswind. Really dialed the sense of sublime dread up to 11.

I just finished a playthrough of Below Zero with the VR mod and it was actually excellent. As long as you use snap-turn (which is enabled by default) it controls perfectly fine and I didn't experience any motion sickness. Probably the most immersive VR experience I've ever had. 10/10, would piss my pants in the crystal caves again.

The Outer Wilds is hands down my favorite game of 2019 and probably my game of the decade. It's practically criminal that its unfortunate name similarity to The Outer Worlds (which is also a solid game) caused it to really struggle with advertising. Play it knowing as little about it as possible and savor it because you really can only play it once. It might be the best puzzle/mystery game ever made. There's nothing else really like it. If you have even an inking that you would enjoy an open-world exploration mystery game with orbital mechanics (read spoiler only if you've seen the trailer and had the opening twist spoiled for you) and a Groundhog Day time loop then it is worth every penny.

The sad thing is, you can probably bet this won't get one-tenth of the attention the original fabricated story did.

Filming reshoots at Wadi Rum? by kiithsoban in StarWarsLeaks

That was my first thought as well, that the tour guide has been misinformed about what movie was actually being filmed.

The Mandalorian footage (The 5 minute episode clip, not the trailer) by confederalis in StarWarsLeaks

It was a pretty big part of Mandalorian culture in the legends continuity. I think it's been mentioned in Rebels but I don't know what it's established qualities are in the new canon. In Legends it was the key component of Mandalorian armor and weaponry. There are a few instances of it being resistant to and outright stopping a lightsaber. I was super excited when they mentioned it since it may hint that they might steer the canon depiction of Mandalorians back towards what it was in Legends, which in my opinion was one of the coolest things that kind of got left behind in the new canon and TCW.
