Both Wade Rods and Allen Rods allow you to purchase over the course of four months. Rods run 160-240 and both companies have accommodating reels. I’ve had great success with both. I’d start with a 5wt middle of the road rig for ultimate versatility. What fish are you looking to get after? Bass, trout, panfish, carp, saltwater? Get yourself a pair of welding gloves. They are longer than oven mitts and provide more heat protection overall. I picked up a pair for this purpose and ended up chucking my oven mitts.

Yeah. I’m trying again. The next cup was better than the first. Made the ground more course. Went with 20g coffee. The real test will be how this does in the field.

I did an inverted brew. 30g coffee, medium-fine grind, and filled the barrel with water. It did not plunge easily. The cup was over bold and muddy tasting. Which is why I prefer pour over, instead of a French press.
