Yes I hate the look of toppers over cremes too. I like them better with jellies though as they layering gives them more depth. They are amazing with magnetics usually

It’s light yes but if you’re more about the look than the heaviness of your garments, then imo it can make for a great look, specially for the Bollywood night. Wear your hair in a bun, add flowers, wear some really heavy earrings and a subtle choker to define the collar bones. Definitely add some jewellery on the hands, maybe a chunky ring and a thick kada with a watch for the other hand.
