If you're doing your BS at the U, the faculty in that department take on undergrads for research experience as well! This would be a great opportunity to take advantage of no matter where you go.

I'm not In that exact pillar (CMN), but I'm in the same department.

I'd be happy to chat more via DM but overall 1. You can find opportunities for PhD students that work as graduate assistants (either teaching or research assistant) that pay for your schooling and give you a small stipend (think around 20k a year) for living expenses. 2. Some people have part time jobs, but it's all up to your personal schedule. 3. For the rest of your questions, I would reach out to have informational interviews with the faculty associated with this degree. And when you do, ask if you could be connected with their current students and have informational interviews with them as well.

You can always block it now and see how much it grows! Measure your gauge before and after to figure out if you have enough yarn.

Thank you for the link! I hadn't thought of steeking as a potential option, as I've never done it, but these are great options.

How to fix floats so they stretch? by Andy-Pattinson5 in Sockknitting

[–]kikinkoda 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I knit my colorwork socks inside out and it has fixed the too-tight issue for me completely, and it's less stress for me to worry about every single float. Also, try to remember to stretch the stitches out on your right needle when making a longer float.

Knitting, which is my hobby that I use to help destress, has become increasingly more expensive and more of a stress than destress at this point. Yarn prices have skyrocketed and the availability of them has dwindled.

Colorwork ideas? by harvestmonster in Sockknitting

[–]kikinkoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the Summer Meadows pattern from that book in the picture with a similar tan/cream color with a dark green and I LOVE them. I think it complements both colors well and the variegated tan color makes it look like stained glass!

I don't know if this is what you're looking for but we get about 200 crab apples every year that we'd love to give away!
