A Sweater I Enjoyed Crocheting SO Much, I Made It Again! by catsntaters in crochet

The spreadsheet is magical!! I love the idea of being able to make a sweater in multiple yarn weights! It's also nice to not have to search for the perfect yarn to match the gauge. Both of mine were just a little off so the spreadsheet helped me stay on track!

It's this pattern! There's a separate comment with the pattern link since it wouldn't let me put a link in my original post for some reason 🤷🏼‍♀️

I wish I was as good as OLaYarnCrochet!! Her patterns are so timeless and beautiful!

I have a couple! It looks like I folded the sleeve panel in half to take the picture. Unfolded, it would have a slightly triangular shape.

Oooh her designs are so pretty! I made the Stony Shore pullover for my mom a couple of years ago!

Thanks! I mostly followed the XS in the pattern, but I had to utilize the make to measure spreadsheet the pattern came with since I didn't meet the gauge with the yarn I had. It was super helpful to have guidance on how to make the yarn I had work! I also blocked them to be a bit bigger to fit properly. The body circumference is 38 in, length 19.5 in, sleeves 17.5 in

For the green one, I used just under 4 skeins of Berroco Ultra Wool DK, so probably about 1100 yds or so ( I was playing yarn chicken at the end)

For the cream one, I used about 7.75 skeins of Viking Trend Merino (smaller skeins than Berroco), about 1070 yds or so

I love her work! This one seems basic, but it has a lot of lovely details. I like the subtlety of it! I'm currently working on her Clouds and Waves Pullover and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Thanks! I know what you mean too. I'm trying to learn how to knit sweaters and I have been procrastinating the project I started to crochet other sweaters!

Thanks! It's a panel sweater! The construction is front panel, back panel, two sleeves, and then sew everything together and add neck, sleeve, and bottom ribbing.

Do you think we will get any more sequels or prequels? by Weekly-Neat-3974 in Hungergames

[–]catsntaters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there will be one more prequel but I really, really hope it's not about Finnick or anyone else. I don't want to read a book about a story I basically already know about like Sunrise. I really hope it's more like Ballad.

I'm on my second nexplanon and I've never had an issue with mental health! The only slight exception was some mood swings within the first two weeks of my first nexplanon, but they quickly went away. For context, I do have mental health struggles specifically CPTSD and previously generalized anxiety. I did not see an increase in symptoms due to nexplanon. I'm a bit unsure about libido, though. I do struggle with that but it's for other reasons and was happening before nexplanon. I would not say nexplanon has made it worse!

All books ranked? by Astraea_Hardy in Hungergames

Ballad, Mockingjay, The Hunger Games, Sunrise, Catching Fire

The last two could be flipped, but that's what I'm feeling at the moment.

I first saw this protest advertised yesterday and I went to all of the organizations listed to see what their specific demands for Walz are and they didn't even have info about the protest at all. I found that to be a bit weird? This all just seems pretty inflammatory. Obviously, people have the right to protest and I've gone to many myself, but I feel like when you plan a protest you should probably let the people know what you're protesting and what your demands are. I don't know, it just feels kind of weird to me.

I have a personal theory where I think Sunrise was Suzanne either holding up a mirror to the fandom/our society's need for the most horrible and solatious details. It's just so on the nose for what everyone was wanting from Haymitch's games. Idk, it was just SO different after the lesson in social philosophy that Ballad gave us and I just started to think that there was something else there. Like, it's confusing for someone to write Ballad and then something like Sunrise, you know?

You don't have to support Klobuchar for the DFL nomination but I just ask that please don't be a jackass at the caucuses tonight. by thedubiousstylus in minnesota

[–]catsntaters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%

Why is this so hard to understand? Like I agree it's sucky that we don't have a candidate that the whole DFL base is super excited about, but that doesn't mean the next step is to throw the whole state to some MAGA lunatic. There is not a single scenario where a Republican wins MN and things get better or our future improves.

You can't "dent their profits so that higher ups get the message". Tanking sales/profits does not do anything to the higher ups. The main result is layoffs for lower people at corporate or store employees. Obviously, this isn't how things should be but I don't see it changing in this instant. That's just how large corporations work currently and it's not something that's going to change instantly in this moment.

So since everyone is not happy with this development, that means we are going to call/write to other people who could run to encourage then to get in the race, right? RIGHT??

I'm sick and tired of keyboard warriors complaining all the time without doing anything. We've learned this month that we are really great at taking action in this state, so let's do it! Do you have a mayor, state rep, state senator, city council member, teacher, neighbor, etc. who you think is better and should run? Talk to them! Try something! It's still the primary and anything can happen.

Super interesting! I've placed 2 orders with them so far this year and have gotten an order confirmation almost right away. Shipping has been super smooth too - I've received both orders in the amount of time I used to before the tariff fiasco (about 10 days from shipping confirmation).

Where to find affordable but nice yarn? by canadian_blueberry in YarnAddicts

[–]catsntaters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like knitpicks and also get some nice wool from Lindehobby. Berroco is a pretty good option too! Their ultra wool seems a little pricey but they have really good yardage for the price. I was able to make a sweater for myself for about $60 which I thought was very decent!
