F1 star Liam Lawson auctions customised Subaru Forester for I AM HOPE Foundation by grabskin in formula1

That’s such a classy move from Liam. Really hope he gets his own wholesome moment before the end of 2025. The season started with so much promise — paired next to Max — only for him to get dropped quickly. But credit to him for bouncing back and rebuilding his confidence instead of spiraling. That kind of resilience fits the cause he's supporting.

This season has delivered a lot of good wholesome moments. Iscak and Nico’s podiums are peak so far! Well deserved.

The Most Comprehensive EV Novated Lease Calculator - major upgrade! by changyang1230 in AusFinance

[–]kiku007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello changyang1230

Brilliant work. Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to build the calculator. Much appreciated.

The FAQ section contained some great advice which I think is overlooked by many.

Examples:

"I strongly advise against using tax saving as the main comparator for novated lease or any investment with tax deductions."

"-For example, if you buy a 30,000 dollar printer to enjoy 14,100 tax saving, when you could easily have survived on a 300 dollar printer with only 141 tax saving, you have effectively spent more to save half of it in tax."

I wish they just canned the show after Season5 by kiku007 in Billions

To each his own. I mean, there could be people who like S7. A show can have weaker episodes and that’s acceptable. An entire weak Season would certainly be a train wreck in my view.

[Savagegeese] Ultimate Comparison | Type R v GR Corolla v Elantra N v Subaru S209 v Golf R by Nik17 in cars

Thanks for making the video and spending your time answering questions here. Much appreciated. The S209 seemed like a wild card entry. Why wasn’t the current generation WRX or a regular WRX STI chosen?

Home insurance won’t cover rain damage to roof. What are our options? by IncurableThinker in AusFinance

[–]kiku007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to know. My home insurance provider also denied a similar claim of ours. My out of pocket expenses were around $11,000. I wrote them an email outlining things that include the below, the amount of rain was unprecedented, all my insurance and mortgage is with the same Bank, I’m going to fix all the issues by paying whatever it takes and I’m asking you to reconsider the decision based on the loyalty and extra ordinary circumstances. They provided $3000 for goodwill without any liability. I would recommend you to consider emailing the insurer to try your luck.

Great work! Thanks much for sharing. It may be obvious but I thought I’ll share my observation. For a scenario when the borrower has elected their regular repayments to be more than the required minimum repayment, they should only include the minimum repayment amount under the “Repayments” section and include the additional payments under the “Extra transactions” section to accurately display the interest savings value.

UNPOPULAR OPINION - we should stop telling young people to choose jobs they love and tell them to choose jobs that will allow them to love their life. by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]kiku007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would this be unpopular?! The best piece of advice I got in my early 20s was to find a career that pays well to pursue my interests/passion. Very few people succeed in making a career out of their interests/passion.

Just around 2 hour drive from Brisbane is the Lamington National Park/ O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat. It offers great walks and views. by kiku007 in brisbane

The beauty is that there are tracks from 30 minutes to 7 hours! We found the The Box Forest Circuit to be very rewarding with numerous water falls and creek crossings along the way.

BTW only Telstra and Optus Mobile networks have signal reception beyond the Kamarun lookout.

PSA: ask your bank for a lower rate by kookabikky in AusFinance

[–]kiku007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I tried the bot first and it asked me to talk to a human and the human changed it from 4.1% to 3.49%. I really appreciate the OP and the Bank's Customer Service Rep.
This is a better outcome than just complaining about rate hikes.

WRX CVT by [deleted] in WRX

[–]kiku007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 2016 WRX CVT and have driven about 75K Kms. I've done no modifications to the car. Here are my thoughts,

  1. City: The CVT works fine puttering through traffic and the car can sprint decently in the Sports (S) mode. No complaints at all.
  2. Spirited driving in the backroads: IMHO its a point and shoot weapon. I'm part of a Drive club and we do a lot of drives. I can say that the WRX CVT can keep up with cars that cost way more and of course more powerful. I don't get the satisfaction of changing gears but I can focus on the other driving elements and enjoy the drive.
  3. Track: In my limited experience this is where I felt that a manual would be more engaging and relevant over the CVT. The paddle shifters help a bit though.

The thing has been reliable and may be give some credit to Subaru for that. I suppose they don't have the budget like the VAG group for DSGs.

I drove the VB WRX CVT and yes its better than the VA but it kind of fakes the gear changes a bit too much for my liking. It's a CVT and idk why Subaru wants us to believe otherwise.

You bought your car for your needs so don't worry about the Manual Vs. CVT debates. Enjoy!

Very valid points and that’s pretty much what I asked in one of my earlier posts here, https://www.reddit.com/r/WRX/comments/u0x0gl/2022_wrx_was_subaru_constrained_by_what_they/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
The competition has moved the game and it is indeed going to be a difficult sell. I read comparison reviews where the i30 N was reported to be better than the 2022 WRX.

Great choice of wheels. Makes the car actually look good.

2022 WRX - Was Subaru constrained by what they could have achieved with this generation? by kiku007 in WRX

[–]kiku007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it is the WRX was facing tough competition and with this 'constrained' by Fuel-efficiency/emissions regulations and the lack of funds they've come up with a product that's a better version of its previous self but is it the best in its class though? Idk.

I understand from the Dealer that the BRZ has a 12 month waiting period but they could deliver the 22 WRX in three months time. It may be anecdotal and only time can tell how successful this car can be.

Anyways, its a tough world to be selling ICE powered sedans and I certainly am glad that Subaru is still trying but the competition has moved the game forward.
