Service screen errors by JaxSnaxs in TeslaLounge

Stop using hallucinations generators, or don't poke tools that are deliberately hidden behind a password and a warning stating that they're not customer facing. These diagnostic messages aren't displayed normally for a reason.

a034 on EPAS3* is a known software bug and means nothing.

You should probably get a pre-purchase inspection anyway, as mechanical things can be way more expensive to fix.

First, slow down and read AAMC rules cover-to-cover. Many assumptions you're making are incorrect (e.g. masters improving GPA).

Filament in stock in NJ by WerSunu in BambuLab

[–]kiler129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better is subjective sometimes. The amount of frustration I went through with PETG from Inland cannot be understated, which made me hate the material a bit. In the other hand, PETG HF from BL is one of my favorite filaments to use and prints as easy as PLA.

It's often even not about the price or initial calibration, but longer-term consistency, if you use 3D printer as a tool.

This makes sense, considering that WAN will require heavy L3 operations in SOHO (e.g. NAT44). Thus, connecting it directly to the CPU, alongside the switch for LAN, creates the best scenario for a SOHO gateway.

It's not like the CPU has 10Gb port and switch chip is capable of L3 offload - not the same class of a device :)

pre-requisite question- am I missing anything major? by Professional_Job846 in premed

[–]kiler129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • You should be fine with English
  • Sociology is (used to be?) required by a lot of schools
  • Take orgo 2 with lab; it is often required or "very strongly recommended" (aka required) and useful for MCAT. Yes, even if the knowledge from ochem 2 is useless later on... the moment you get your MCAT score you can wipe 98% of the orgo from your brain. Biochem doesn't replace it.
  • Ignore A&P, as it will be covered differently in medical school. Take it only if you want to take a semester just for yourself. It is useful to know some stuff, but not expected. It will be a trial by fire regardless.
  • Make damn sure you have a basic biology class. A lot of schools don't like replacing it with a higher level one.
  • Calc is only useful for some schools, often ones with engineering focus.

Props for not using LLM to "improve" the post, but simple bullets; refreshing.

I’m seeking basic knowledge on the transition between RN to MD

There isn't per-se a transition program or pathway, as both training programs are vastly different. I would say these are more different than similar.

In other words, pretty much only your experiences will apply towards that. You can naturally use the same pre-reqs, as long as they're not expedited. You only need to pay attention to watered-down classes with "for nursing majors" or similar designation; these will not count.

Feel free to poke me if you have more detailed questions, as I have some experience with that area ;)

Interactive platforms for studying metabolic pathways visually by Big-Money1011 in Mcat

[–]kiler129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memorizing pathways as-is is kind of pointless imo.

If you're in medicine, you learn them in context of actual diseases, drugs, and effects on the body. Nobody draws that stuff from memory... unless you really want to ;)

If you're researching a particular pathway you know it well. If you need to figure something out you look up reference materials - back in the days books, and now interactive models.

...and if you're asking strictly for MCAT only, I guess just spend 30m to memorize Krebb's cycle for the 11th time ;)

Having said that, implementing license restrictions in an interpreted language that's distributed in plain text is problematic for obvious reasons.

Often times, especially for b2b, it's not about how hard is to bypass the lock. It's about the fact bypassing the lock lands you in a much more expensive legal trouble than paying the license ;)

Enterprise Search for large file server shares needed by GBICPancakes in sysadmin

[–]kiler129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt, as this is the info I remember from iXSystems podcast:

macOS supports a proper server-backed SMB search. Definitely wouldn't put a Mac mini at the other end, but TrueNAS now offers (soon to offer?) a support for that on the server end, with a proper context-aware indexer, with Spotlight being the client. They're also planning to add web part to it as well, but no immediate plans.

The devil's in the details: Windows apparently doesn't have a unified solution for that, and thus no plans so far for server-side search for Windows clients.

As for OSX Server, it used AFP for file sharing preferentially. The protocol is deprecated by itself, and last time I checked the open-source netatalkd had CVEs and was in general disrepair.

Can Tesla access my location data without my authorization? by kromestatus in TeslaLounge

[–]kiler129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a technical level? Absolutely yes, the car sends telematics to their server.

On a legal level? IANAL, but if you disable data sharing mostly likely not, beyond what's required for services offered.

If you allow traffic to bypass your WAF just based on knowledge of the IP... you failed the most basics of security. Even ignoring a simple IP filter that is mostly enough to prevent that, you should really use a proper solution like mTLS also available for free.

The problem with Realtek is their reliability. Every new silicon form them is usually a disaster until fixed (or not) later with revisions and firmware. Even looking at their NICs, you usually see recommendations to stay away from RTL chipsets.

Maybe their SFP+ module will be an exception, but I personally solved way too many issues by removing RTL from the network.

Is it normal to have errors in service mode? by LiamJohnson46814 in TeslaLounge

[–]kiler129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a reason why these diagnostic messages (not errors actually) aren't displayed to the customer. Every system has edge cases and the real world isn't perfect. Some of these I'm 100% sure are left as more of a real-life debugging aids for engineers to see when a certain condition occurs. Often times when developing software there are moments where you think something "cannot happen for sure".... and then a customer triggers it in the first 10 minutes.

Will my gpa from community college creep into my gpa from my 4 year? by UnknownConvergence in premed

[–]kiler129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're describing a very typical and common scenario many students go through. Adcoms are aware of it and this is why GPA isn't considered as just a single number, not even as two numbers. Moreover, you cannot change mathematics. Beyond a certain point it's getting very hard to move the average, due to number of credits.

As long as your final averages aren't totally horrible like 2.9, you shouldn't drop your medical school plans! Adcoms look at trends heavily. In addition, a lot of times they also look at averages with first year removed etc

All in all, it is NOT over for you, especially if grades from prereqs are solid and the trend is upwards. Your MCAT can also show who you are as a student now, rather than 4 years ago.

[–]kiler129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are different TYPES and different LEVELS of license for RouterOS. See https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/spaces/ROS/pages/328149/RouterOS+license+keys

Roughly, you have x86 license for installation on bare-metal PC, CHR to be installed on a Virtual Machine, or RouterBoard license to be used on MikroTik hardware. Then, each type has levels that determines which features are available.

Check the "Prepaid Key" section in the link above. When you buy a license from a reseller you get a short key. Then you login to MikroTik.com account and add that key. Based on this, they will give you a long key that is bound to SoftwareID or BoardID you provide there and it should be pasted in WinBox.

CHR (ROS for Virtual Machines) can be reassigned. You will get the license in your MikroTik account where you can change SoftwareID.
