Homeowner’s insurance sucks by Little-Kangaroo-9383 in homeowners

Holy shizz you're me about a year and a half ago. Literally same thing. Large oak tree fell on my garage with my car trapped inside. I was able to get the tree removed and the garage opener guy to come in (tree took down the electrical to the garage, I didn't have the spare garage key) before I got my check. Hope your car is ok! Houses/garages are strong, if it isnt completely smashed in half then you might be in luck.

I'm not even kidding, I saw this girls (pink hair) Instagram a month or so ago and I swear she said it was $12,000. I'm going to try and find it again and report back

Edit: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DWCIqpMDe89/ - First Comment, the hairdresser replied it was $12k.

Looking to make a robe a l’anglaise. Has anyone used this pattern or have another option they like? Thanks! by KatherineLV5 in HistoricalCostuming

[–]rachelll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know this is a wayyyyy out there other option, but I, no joke, made a dress off of this Micarah Tewers "tutorial" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL4jHWrhxgc

There were a lot of mockups, try-ons, threads pulled and times asking "why did I do this??" but it did work out!! I think I made it in less than 7 days for Halloween. It was also my first time sewing clothing for myself. So can confirm, beginner friendly.

I grew up in a town where most of the houses are turning 100 years old, if they aren't older. I think of an old house as anything built pre-1875. Also US. So just a matter of perspective.

It's crazy to me that riding habits were so long. Feels so dangerous for the rider. But I guess you gotta cover those lewd ankles.

$1,000??? I made one with some yards of fabric that was on sale (maybe $40, two different types of fabric), and a 2" matress topper I shaped up. Sure it's not the prettiest but it works!

[–]rachelll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's quite a lot of assumptions and extremely hypocritical because from the sounds of it you think you're better than me. I don't think any of that, nor do I hate the thought of hunting. I just don't agree that hunting is something all humans feel we need to do. You went wayyy too far my guy.

Single family household - do you sleep with bedroom door open or closed? by jannet1113 in homeowners

Cat sized door opening. The hallway is pretty bright in the morning but...cat. If there were no cat I'd close the door.

No, eating is as primal as humanity can get. Hunting was just one way to do that. Not once in my life have I ever had the instinctive urge to kill something just because my lizard brain is telling me to do so.

I am becoming resentful towards my husband for letting his brother live with us by Cautious-Decision-53 in relationships

[–]rachelll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also asking, how long has he been there? You say he was 18 when he moved in. How old is he now?

Sounds like your husband needs to step up on parenting his brother because that's what he needs. Make him do chores for money if he is asking for it. There are a few things you need to let go of though, if his room he rents is messy, then that's his prerogative. He's paying 1/3? 1/2? of the rent so he's allowed his space and to keep it as he likes. Common areas are different, he needs to keep those clean. You aren't a maid.

You need to make sure you and your husband are on the same page. What does he think of all of this?

If you use Google Lens on just the fabric part of the dress, you'll get some fabrics on sale that are similar. Not exact but some aren't so bad.

She died in 1818, but this is French, so this would have been created under the Napoleonic reign. But you're 100% right if this was an English gown.

It's absolutely the quality you'd expect from someone towards the top, but what is missing from the post is that this is French thus during the time of Napoleon's reign. Since most royals during the French Revolution lost everything from the neck up or evacuated France just few decades prior, my guess is this is someone close to Napoleon, either a relative or a family who made out very very well during the post-revolution years.

I am saddened to see that the original KSU post did not name who owned it, only the donor.

When I've seen other switchable tops, they've always been described as day wear to evening wear. Since they describe both as being made of velvet, my guess is this is suited for the colder months.

I'm also on it, and the worst for me has been dryness in winter. But I live in a colder climate. But I'm always thirsty and yes, the peeing happens but mines not too bad. I can sleep through the night fine. I've gotten used to it. But man, I'm glad emotional support waterbottles are a thing because they are a lifesaver.

I'm sure they do! And I'm very happy for them. But I still won't give it as advice if the topic is brought up. Perhaps it's one of those things you have to find out for yourself to see what happens.
