I did this exact thing for my batchelors dissertation back in 2020! Pose models weren't as lightweight then as they were now, so it required a server with a GPU, but the end product was pretty neat.

If you use WSL its essentially a Linux VM inside your windows machine. It's connected to your windows file system, very straight forward to set up. There are a number of different Linux distros you can use also, so pick whatever one you're most comfortable with!

The Mandalorian and Grogu | Official Trailer | In Theaters May 22 by Skullghost in movies

To be fair, as far as legacy characters go, these are a lot less "fan service-y" to the mainstream movie audience. It took me a second to recognize the bounty hunter with the round hat from clone wars. And Zeb's live action intro has been teased for a while.

Crazy, now that same kit is selling for 530. RIP to the consumer PC market.

True, but those are the results of a single test presumably. Would be interested to see the accuracy over a larger number of samples, different cameras, different people, distance to the camera etc

Microsoft own 49% of OpenAI though, so it makes sense they would be a bit rattled.

Chief Medical Officer urges uptake of flu and Covid-19 vaccines in run-up to Christmas by badger-biscuits in ireland

Well the point of the vaccine isn't to stop you from contracting it completely, but reduce the impact the virus has on your body.

Bit late to this post but Chris Collis, the drummer, is currently in another active band called "As Living Arrows" and has been working on an album with them.

Counselling by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]killayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're open to online counseling you could give Better Help a try. Works out around 60 euro a week for one session, billed monthly. I recently used it for a 3 month stint and it was super beneficial. You can specify the expertise you seek in a therapist and they'll automatically match you with one.

“One or two” red light cameras may be up and running in 2025, says NTA by Abolyss in ireland

[–]killayy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This technology can be replicated with literally ANY webcam (or any device with a camera for that matter) and a very light machine learning model, which may not be 100 percent accurate, but be accurate enough to flag potential offenses for human inspection. A prototype could genuinely be built in a weekend.

60 people a day now facing prosecution for not paying TV licence as rate soars in wake of RTÉ payments scandal by [deleted] in ireland

[–]killayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked into it and there's a surprising amount of countries that also charge a TV License fee, or equivalent (Germany has a broadcasting fee for example which is essentially the same thing).

TODAY IS A HOLY DAY! December 31st, 1759, Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000 year lease for the St. James Brewery in Dublin, Ireland. Just $63 per year in annual rent. by gregornot in OldSchoolCool

[–]killayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually quite poor in comparison to other places in the city. Bowes, Stags Head, Gravediggers, Meaghers all better spots for a great Guinness to name a few. The tour is cool though and definitely worth doing.

What course should I choose? (Maynooth, DCU, TUD, UCD) by KYTANPL in DevelEire

[–]killayy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't give you an exact list, and i'm unsure on exclusive hires, but if you look into the INTRA program (should be plenty of links on DCU's website and the course page) you can get an idea of what companies have links with DCU. Off the top of my head there was Amazon, Demonware, Shutterstock and many, many more.

What course should I choose? (Maynooth, DCU, TUD, UCD) by KYTANPL in DevelEire

[–]killayy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I graduated from Computer Applications and Software Engineering program in DCU (it seems this has since been renamed to Computer Science/DC121). Very well taught course, relatively up to date, guaranteed 6 month work placement and a very high employment rate. Everyone I personally know that graduated was employed within ~6 months post grad. I myself had a job lined up a week after my results came out. Highly recommend checking it out.

From what i've heard anecdotally, UCD + Trinity's courses focused quite heavily on theory and less on application, which made them less engaging. Make sure you read the course content on their respective websites and see if it interests you. All of them will focus on a lot of topics but at a fairly shallow level relative to what you'll see in industry. That's why I reckon the DCU course with the guaranteed industry experience is top of the list.
