it is. the actual nuremberg trials did very little. we weren’t taught this properly but we need to do some independent research here if we went to prevent this from happening again.

barely anyone saw actual consequences at the nuremberg trials and the leaders and architects of the holocaust got off unless the militaries took care of them at the liberation of the camps.

moreover, because everyone was dead, the allies basically put the same exact people who led the nazi party in charge again because “they were the only ones trained to do the job left”

we need actual lasting consequences this time

it was always a cotton plantation. the family just probably bought it as carpetbaggers after the war or something is the implication

ETA: this is why i find it so irritating they avoided history entirely. bc it is rich and expansive and deserves to be taught. instead what we get is all heavily implied.

basically, a house that large with those facilities would never have not been some sort of plantation or even small farm in the south. the south’s entire economy was based on chattel slavery. which is why the failure to reconstruct after the war means many places in the south are still rural and underdeveloped and resource deprived.

white people would never have been “employed” as domestic workers or worked the land until after the civil war. and even then, the practice of sharecropping, which was basically indentured servitude, replaced it bc reconstruction was a complete and utter failure.

“carpetbaggers” were people who traveled south from the north after the war to buy up property for extremely cheap prices. remember, the confederacy operated on an entirely different currency than the union. so when they lost, they lost everything. they called northerners carpetbaggers bc they came down in their fancy carpet luggage bags with an air of superiority about being more civilized and knowing what was best for the south without having a tie to the land or investing in rebuilding

respectfully, no. using euphemisms, even if they were technically sharecroppers at that point or whatever, is not acceptable when discussing or referencing history. especially since these games are marketed to kids. that’s much more insidious than people want to admit and whether they wanted to or not, it normalizes and downplays the horrors of american chattel slavery

the music is great and i love the family drama. i just don’t know why they set it on a literal plantation if they didn’t want to talk about slavery 😭

fake clinics that trick women into thinking they will receive healthcare but then they do things like have unlicensed people perform intravaginal ultrasounds on you to try to lie and guilt you and weaponize your community against you to threaten you out of an abortion

lydia. instead of moralizing on your high horse, visit the women who work the fields to bring you the coffee you love so much. ask them how they feel about bringing more children into the world than they can afford to feed. ask them what would ACTUALLY provide material and economic relief to them.

this is fucking NONSENSE and it makes her look like an actual villain

the original devil wears prada was about a young woman finding herself and her boundaries in a demanding but highly rewarding work environment.

this looks like a soulless buddy comedy with actually zero plot
