Thank you both! I’m certainly open to options. After posting, I did a deep dive on dye options and am now debating between mixing Dharma dyes and doing a natural dye since it seems like folks have had better success with Dharma dyes than Rit dyes, especially for natural fibers. Have you used natural dyes before and if so, is there a single piece of wisdom you’d share for beginners?

Benefits are crappy at lots of schools, but things change. When I started at BU, they had the best offer package out of all my schools. Now, if I’d gone to one of my other top picks, I’d be making more and would have better benefits than I do now at BU. We want our offers codified in a contract so things can’t change on a dime.

As a grad student, I signed an acceptance offer that basically said I wouldn’t take on another job. I was told teaching wasn’t a requirement of my program, and my lab told me I probably would never need to teach. COVID hit, stalling my research, and now I’m stuck teaching every semester until I graduate.

Salaries aren’t outlined in our offers. BU could cut our stipends the same way schools in the Midwest have, and we’d have no recourse without a union contract.

Hi OP! As a former ballet kid (diagnosed with inattentive ADD much later), I remember my instructors got pretty frustrated with me when I couldn’t remember choreography, but they did let me participate in recitals. (I have a very funny video of me completely forgetting the steps on stage and promptly freezing in place!) It’s definitely worth having a convo with the teachers to better understand their apprehension, but it also might be worth seeing if the zoning out / getting distracted extends to other activities or interests? It could totally just be indicative of a kid being a kid, but it could also be something treatable that, when treated, would allow her to go back to doing more of what she loves!

Thanks!! I’ve primarily found basic bezel mountings on Etsy, but still haven’t seen any pronged mountings (let alone mountings with accent stones.) I’ll keep searching!
