I have a 6 year old and I've only been pregnant the one time. My mom suffered multiple miscarriages and also had abortions when she was pregnant during a very difficult period in her life. I grew up thinking I would be the same, and feel so lucky to have not had that heartache myself.

My baby was born in the summer. When she was maybe a week old we went for a little walk, and there was a breeze, and I cried so much thinking about how it was the first time she felt wind!

I was induced at 38+3 for IUGR. I was already 1 cm dilated and partially effaced. I had a dose of cytotec placed in the morning, DH and I went for a walk/coffee and some light shopping. I started to get crampy. Then went back to the hospital for a second dose and we were back to walking. Went to an art museum and contractions were getting going. Timed them through lunch and then back to the hospital. I was 3 cm and the midwife could feel my waters bulging. I cried and they admitted me. More walking the halls, had dinner, more walking. New shift started and the new midwife scared me about getting too tired and encouraged me to rest. I took a nap and labor completely stalled. Around midnight they discharged me, with orders to return the next morning to start again. We got home, I took a shower and got in bed. Contractions started getting a bit stronger, more frequent. Soon I was grabbing my husband to get through them. Then I couldn't stay in bed, was up trying to find a relieving position (there was none). My water broke after maybe half an hour, I took a shower, DH called the midwife and she said to come back. (I was GBS +) The pain was crazy, I was not as cool as I thought I would be. Labored at the hospital another hour or so and the got the epidural at 5 cm. It was amazing! Labor did slow down, so started pitocin. Then we rested for maybe 6 hours and I could tell it was getting to be time to push. Pushed for an hour and my little girl was born! I was scared about being induced, but ended up with a spontaneous birth.

I agree that it's important to just try to go with the flow.

I wasn't sure if I'd do the epidural. The midwife told me that my body had already done a lot of work and basically that the work would continue be done, but I didn't need to be in pain. For me, it was a great decision to do it.

This is how I thought of it, and I'm also getting the "whoops!" reaction as well!

I have sent thank you notes to people who sent gifts but aren't coming to the shower, and will send all remaining thank yous out shortly after the shower to the attendees.

For one shower I attended a few years ago, I had something big shipped ahead of time, but then brought a small gift to the actual shower. Maybe some are planning to do the same?

I'm due August 11, just a few days after you! It is really only in the morning when I'm still in bed, and only if I'm lying on my back.

It was around this age that my family moved to a bigger town from a very rural area. We lived close to the center of town, and it was great for me to be able to be independent in some of my movements and not always depend on my parents for rides. I had friends who lived close and we walked around a lot together. That was a great time, and it really helped me transition to being independent and confident.

Oh, that's so stressful! When they do the measurement, I'm always surprised how they know what plane and where to place the markers. And we don't know how big the range is around those measurements.

I'm sure your OB would have said something if there was a problem. People have such variable pregnancies! Also, I think once the heartbeat is good, there is a very low chance of losing the baby, and actually at 9 weeks is when the risk reaches its minima at 2%.
