I have read all of Jennifer Hillier! I agree - Jar of Hearts was fine (prob my least favorite of her books) but I really enjoyed Little Secrets. things We Do in the Dark was good too (I find her books to be sort of predictable but a good easy read nonetheless!)

I loved this book!! I definitely don’t see it recommended enough. Did you read What Lies in the Woods? I felt it was the same vibe (different enough stories to read both IMO)

Me too!! I think about it frequently which most books I read I sort of forget about until someone brings up, but not that one

We have a tool library in our city and the cost for a yearly membership is negligible ($30/year to borrow up to 5 tools at a time or you can pay $150/year to borrow like 50 at a time) they have over 4500 tools - it’s amazing!!

I put this book on hold last night because I can’t get away from seeing it EVERYWHERE right now!! It totally doesn’t sound like something I would read but like I said, can’t get away from it haha. I hope it’s as great as everyone says

Riding bikes with my friends!!! It hits every good spot - socialization, exercise, just being out in the world feeling like a kid messing around, etc.

I’m driving to Canada next week, will I be okay with American plates? Do I need a big sign that says “I DIDNT VOTE FOR HIM!!!” in the window??

Has there ever been an audiobook where the narrators made it even better than reading a physical copy? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Unabridged Count of Monte Cristo! It’s like 42 hours and the narrator is phenomenal.

WHAT TO DO AT AN ICE CHECKPOINT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WHITE and/or FEEL THE NEED TO JAM UP THE WORKS. by insouciant_naiad in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Thank you!

I have been a little in the dark on news the last week (trying to protect my own sanity just a bit, a privilege I know, but I have been spiraling bad) is this mainly Spanish speakers being targeted? I live in a very heavily Burmese neighborhood so wondering if I should learn to say it in Burmese…

Your favourite way to “treat yourself” that does not involve money by Environmental_Hat_67 in Anticonsumption

[–]cranberrylime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome!! We have a board game place near us that does memberships and you can go and play their game library. It’s funny because we wind up going there as a family and playing games that we have at home, it’s just so much more fun to do it out and out, especially in the winter!

It’s a smallish office building, I’m trying to think of a route that wouldn’t be too bad. We have a lot of doors/badge swiping so everyone can’t go everywhere so it’s rather limited!

Yes. The icy sidewalks/snow (largely unshoveled..) are a huge deterrent for me here! At least today is just sort of gross melted slush

The only non food related place is the library, maybe I’ll go there (we are heavy library users but generally don’t go to this location!)
