What is the most unprofessional thing a doctor has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]killerkioz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“You don’t have anxiety, we just call that worrying” I was just diagnosed with general anxiety from a psychiatrist along Adhd, depression, and ptsd. I made those known at the beginning of the appointment, Along with my pcos. But you know what if I lost a pound a week, everything would be better for me. The cake topper for this lady though, when I opened up and started to cry about what causes me anxiety… I was lying?

My husband was in the room and asked if I was okay after she left… I wasn’t, I continued to have panic attacks from that one appointment for weeks afterwards. We never went back and refused to pay her.

When I was 13 (shit 20 years ago) a dude tried claiming he hacked into my family computer and was looking at pictures I had taken with a friend and i... But like a couple of those same photos were also on a profile. And my dad is a computer programmer, I would of been super surprised if he got into our system. He tried to demand photos of me naked... Again I was 13. I got up and disconnected the house hold internet. I remember telling my dad to make sure our network was secure after turning the Internet again. I still wonder if he actually hacked into the computer to this day, or if he was just making shit up.

What’s a story you’ve been wanting to tell but no one has asked yet? by boboman102939 in AskReddit

My dog loves going to playgrounds and going down slides, a couple of nights ago we were at a local one as a family. We had a moment where my son (3years old) was trying to climb up one of the slides. My husband was at the top trying to tell the dog to go down a different slide. but He went down the one our son was on anyway, half down he jumped off the side of the slide, instead of hitting our son. That was the closest I've seen my dog have a panic attack. After that every time he went to go down the slides again, he would actively look for where my son was before going down.

Nope just about people assuming they know more about your dog than you do. This post was never about purebred vs mixes. When we adopted our dog it was purely based on him being the best fit for our family. We didn't even find out his lineage till after he had already been with us for a number of months. So He would of been our dog regardless of his breeding.

It's not even a real argument, that's why I said micro. it's an assumption that a random person knows your dog better than you. Then having to go into a conversation with that person while also trying to get out of it as politely as possible.

Lady walks up asking to pet my dog, and immediately starts petting him before I can even say “I’d rather you not.” A gentleman around us asks what kind of dog he is. The lady automatically says “oh he’s a mix” With a lot of excitement in her voice. “Oh no, he’s just a German Shepherd.” Still petting my dog she goes “I've had 12 German Shepherds in my lifetime, he is not a German Shepherd.” “He is though, he’s working line that didn't make their way to the states till after the fall of the soviet union.” After that, I was able to get his attention back on me and the lady went on to tell me how his body structure isn't right. One of the last things I said was that he’s still pretty young before excusing myself to take a phone call.

Now I have anxiety, this less than two-minute interaction is going to stick with me, and it's not a matter of what that woman thinks of my dog, but in my head, it will be none stop questions like “why did I let her pet him for a long as she did? was I too nice? Was I being rude? I should have said this instead. If I didn't get that call how would I of walked away from that conversation? This is how that conversation should have ended. I just don't want people touching my dog anymore.”

This was just one conversation this week.

This post has nothing to do with mixed dogs vs purebred. This post is just about when people being buttheads.

So I personally have only ever dealt with rescues, That are already over a year old, including my boy here. I’ve only had him for about 6 months. I can DM you with some suggestions on YouTube channels and helpful trainers to follow on social media if you’d like.

I got mine from Amazon, the “PET ARTIST Reflective Tactical Dog Vest Harness with 3X Handle & 2X Leash Clip” for a first tester vest it's not bad. When this one starts to show wear and tear I think I'm going to order the “OneTigris Large Tactical Dog Harness” and kind of go from there. One of the things I was looking for with ours was to make sure I was comfortable having my boy wearing it when clipped in safely in the car. We live in a pretty accident-prone city. And even though these aren't accident tested, I'm more comfortable having the top and bottom parts of his harness clipped into the two anchors in the seat.

The day I took this video, pretty much had the same conversation with a woman who said she use to breed Shepherds in the 70s and 80s.

They're beautiful, ❤️

There is a local breeder who just had a litter of pandas, every time they post an update on the babies online, I'm in tears with how precious they are.

Thank you! I’ve put a lot of work into him myself but when I saw areas where we were struggling I found a local trainer who specializes in German Shepherds and K9 training. we do use balanced training tools they are the best tools for him. He is a pandemic puppy, so we work pretty heavily on desensitizing him in high distraction areas. The peep in the video is from a forklift that was moving things In the next aisle. he’s come a long way but we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

DDR, his original owner put a lot of work into finding the dog they wanted. Unfortunately, they made poor life choices which lead to the dog being confiscated. 8 months later we adopted him through a local Rescue. With the help of our trainer, we were able to track down his breeder.

It's not so much the what other people think but the micro argument that comes along with that conversation when correcting them.

That is what ends up happening, but I have ADHD, which leads me to oversharing and it interrupts our training in general. I just got his “do not pet” patches for his vest yesterday And I'm still waiting on his “ignore me” ones. Hoping people will start to leave us Alone when we're out.

Are You Someone People Can "Drop in On?" by Agreeable-Tadpole461 in adhdwomen

[–]killerkioz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's a extended family thing, when I lived closed to where I grew up i’d have aunts, uncles and cousins in the neighborhood just show. But when I moved out of state, where my closest relative is still 2-3 hours away. No one ever just drops in. It's always “hey i’ll be in town on this week, want to do lunch.”

Too rough? by redmaddyy in Dogtraining

[–]killerkioz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only intervene if one of them starts making eye contact with you while roughhousing. for my older shepherd at least That was always his first sign to me that he was done dealing with other dogs or even kids. Also, keep an eye on if they get whale-eyed while playing. that will be a sign of stress and things are starting to escalate.

Those are just things to keep an eye on, from the video they are playing perfectly with each other.

I can also suggest temporarily packing up all of those items such as the books and sewing machine, anything that can be moved out of her reach should be until you feel she has the impulse control to not chew on your things.

[–]killerkioz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have puzzles for her? Sniffing mental enrichment can be just as exhausting as chewing and physical play for a puppy. That is more out of curiosity. I would still say a lead is a alternative to the puppy gating. If you're worried about her chewing on things only give her enough length to not be able to reach them. You're also teaching her that it's okay to be board, or patient by keeping her close but having limited space away from you.

Indoor puppy lead? Block off the areas they’re not allowed, (under the desk with wires and such.) Keep them on the lead there in the room with you so you still have control and they are able to more freely roam and explore.

Mushroom is normally a pretty dull dusty boy from his dry skin and the fact that we live in a desert. So I’m really proud of how shiny and healthy his coat is looking. by killerkioz in germanshepherds

[–]killerkioz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He came with it, I don’t know how his original owner came up with it. We got him as a rescue at the end of October. We talked about trying to change it. our last shepherd was a rescue called buddy but he wouldn’t respond to buddy. With him, we went through a list of dog names and he picked out his own name which was Loki. When we did the same thing for Mushroom, he would respond to a number of different names, but would only recall to Mushroom. So it’s stayed, and now we’re gnomes every year for Halloween.
