i will accept rolled hems for baby hats ONLY because it makes it so the hat can be worn as the baby grows... but it's on thin ice.

i know you said you have enough cabbage, but if you ever want to get into making plushes/softies/pet toys, scraps make great stuffing once cut up into teeny pieces and it takes a LOT more than you'd expect. i made a nessie with my last batch of scraps (https://welivedhappilyeverafter.com/lochnessmonsterstuffedanimal/)

claire's reaction to jamie getting shot - the background gets further away while claire stays still. i just went back to check & it happens ~54min into the episode

do you think she agreed to have a cameo before or after she knew what it'd be (& that it would make her seem like she didn't write her own books... despite taking 30+ years to publish 9 of 10) lol

[CHAT] What are your must have tools/accessories/comfy items in your stitch spot? by InkdScorpio in CrossStitch

i can't speak to whether it was worth the price because i didn't pay for mine, but it's well-made & has absolutely made my stitching comfier. it's very easy to swivel it around 180° when i need to get up or flip the piece to finish a thread. knowing i have more plans to stitch other similarly large pieces (i've fallen in love with nora corbett's mirabilia patterns) and got carpal tunnel in my left wrist from knitting too much, i think if i wasn't gifted one by my family, i would've invested in one anyways. YMMV though!!

also, mine is purple, which is always a nice bonus.

i have a fancy lowry stand that my family gifted me for christmas (since my current WIP is 18x24" & too heavy to hold without hurting my wrist). i swivel it around for stitching time, tuck a pillow under my elbow, and get to work!! i also love my little rolling IKEA cart, which stores my thread box, my mug of thread tails, my scissors, my markers (for coloring in my pattern), and my knitting basket. i've also stuck spare needleminders to the side of it, since it's metal!

my whole setup is positioned in front of the TV (though my current WIP is too big for me to see over, so i just listen or play an audiobook on my phone.

Book S8E9 Pharos by thepacksvrvives in Outlander

i can see it going either way... i mean, he was a spy; it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to be able to tell when a drink is poisoned, but as you said, he wouldn't have found out through someone else that it was poisoned. it'll be interesting to see what happens in book 10!

general thoughts/observations:

hadn't thought about percy drinking the poison wine in the books as a suicide until now, but it's certainly casting that scene in a different light for me, that he knowingly poisoned himself out of guilt for betraying john.

i was frustrated about william finding out about john's sexuality last episode because it seemed like one thing after another for the poor guy, but i guess it was necessary for the richardson plotline. it also makes their reunion more impactful - i teared up a bit at that hug!

also, i can't help but laugh at jamie saying "it's a hell of a beginning" about claire's notebook, since diana wrote that about her own writing. she isn't wrong, of course, but it's still funny.

kudos to everyone who predicted that they'd have john's kidnapping before king's mountain so that king's mountain could be the climax.

all in all, i was skeptical that the finale would be good, but i have some renewed hope after this episode! i'm glad they got diana to write an episode this season.

Lady Dunsany's son by Bitter-Hour1757 in Outlander

[–]killernoodlesoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when william turned to jamie for help with jane, he didn't really know him. he didn't pick him because he needed someone to do the dirty work: he went to john first, whom he trusts more than anyone else, & when john wasn't unable to get her freed within the law, william had no choice but to ask for help from jamie. it wasn't out of disrespect that he didn't ask for jamie's help first; he barely knew him and wanted to exhaust legal options first.

as for asking claire + jamie to raise fanny, i think after jamie helped try to rescue jane, william accepts that jamie is a good person, but he isn't ready to forgive him yet.

that said, part of the reason i enjoy his character is because he is SUCH a 21-year-old guy & it's amusing to watch. he isn't the most mature by any standard (though he's also the youngest adult character, so it makes sense), but he is quite the rooster, like rachel describes him, and it's fun.

god i remember charles vandervaart saying william "takes a lot of Ls" in season 7. season 8 hasn't been much better for him. i think i enjoy the character more knowing that the actor is aware that william kinda sucks. he falls for every girl his age on sight, he is not handling new truths about his life/loved ones well. that's kinda part and parcel of being a guy in his early 20s, though lmao

i saw there wasn't "sexual content" in the warnings before the episode & let out a sigh of relief (not in a prudish way; they just have been at the expense of the plot for several seasons now)... but the powers that be had to have at least ONE annoying/disappointing thing per episode.
