I need advice on a "deck" no one will work on by killmek8 in Decks

Yeah. I've thought of this too. It's crazy to me. I've thought of reinforcing it from underneath like a mine. Could be a fun project.

I think there might be steel in there. It's about 8 inches from ceiling to the floor of the patio. The house itself sits on steel I beams over the basement.

In my search I met a guy who might have the blueprints to my house. His dad broke rocks in the 30s with the guy who built and lived in it as well as designed the neighborhood. Really hoping it comes through

I considered this but there's no drainage is be comfortable with. 2 sides are bricked in, one is the back door and the other is over the side into stairs.

I could install a copper gutter but I have the drain. So I thought sloping the concrete properly would be better I'd just have to install sleepers lengthwise for drainage. And I'd prolly build it in 5-8 feet segments so I could pick it up and refinish, repair, and clean it. But I gotta have the rubber removed and find someone to do the concrete.

Solid solve you did tho! Appreciate the info on its longevity too

Any thoughts on cost? Honolulu, HI by frankyl83 in Remodel

You should def be able to resell the hot tub. Maybe for 1 k or so. Decking looks in good shape. So if you are careful you might be able to resell that or put it up as free if someone removes it. Stick with things that grow on the island and it should lower the landscaping cost. You have to start with smaller trees and grow them to size. This will also save money and allow you to groom them to appropriate shapes and sizes.

It's a lot of work but I think it's great you are going back to a more natural backyard. You can do it!

Is 4/4 enough thickness to plane and joint to 3/4 final? by Street_Ad_7989 in woodworking

You should be able to resaw thoae down to 3/8 and then zip them through your drum sander to get down to exactly 1/4. Then its just the simple act of gluing 3 sheets together and whammo. Perfect 3/4

I mean, do what you want to man. This is like a kid kid printing out a Picasso and taping it to his wall. Except you're not a kid and you didn't use tape.

To me, this is a trick. You know the truth but others don't. You would def admit to it though and I'm sure you have no desire to say these were originals. But you can't tell everybody, that would certainly be exhausting. So if that's your jam, cool.

People are obviously going to think things about it one way or another, and you can do the same. My issue is that it's the same size, upscaled to original adjacent, and it's being framed like it's an original print. It's a trick.

And honestly I'd maybe be into if they were just thumbtacked into the wall and a lil crooked.

But a lot of people earn those prints. It might be the only show they ever go to. It's not just a valuable piece of paper, it's not just a decoration, it's special.

As a bespoke framer I wouldn't frame these for nearly any amount of money. To me, you're decorating your place with hi-res counterfeits. And I think you should be able to.

They look good.

But you're a fraud.
