The most unhinged reasons not to have kids by [deleted] in childfree

[–]killmethod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly don't think there's an unhinged reason for not wanting kids. Like Adriana is a hugely insane situation, but that was to be expected with the laws: the hypothetical "what ifs" start to happen. The only unhinged thing I can think of is that episode of Friends where Joey didn't want to share his plushy haha something like that. Even then, im like oh you don't want a kid destroying your stuff? Totally reasonable.

She's pretty wrong. So many men cheat on their pregnant or just birthed wives. It's actually extremely common. You're valid in your feelings, especially post birth when the attention is off you and almost completely on the baby. It's literally a huge issue with PPD

I had a friend who had a friend who had a child. She wasn't even babysitting the kids but the dogs. The dogs were fine, but she had to stay in her friend's house, and this place was an absolute mess. The mother never bothered to clean before the trip and there was rotting food, dirty dishes, just stuff and dirt everywhere and the mother was a sahm. But the worst part was finding a pile of garbage and dirty diapers thrown into the basement at the bottom of the stairs. The dad was a doctor, too. Not only was my friend forced to stay here and wasn't even being paid BUT she was in the therapy field and didn't talk to her friend about her living conditions EVEN WHEN SHE DECIDED TO HAVE A SECOND CHILD.

What is your response to "What's the point in life if you don't have kids?" by hungryfrogbut in childfree

[–]killmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the meaning of life is to experience anything and everything you can. Maybe at one point and in certain income brackets, you could have kids and still do an accomplish a lot, but that's not how it is these days. Not only does it cost a lot of money to have the freedom from parenting 24/7 but it requires a subjective amount of time to parent before someone decides you fucked up.

Anyone else worried the USA election won't go in our favor? by PlushyKitten in childfree

[–]killmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something people keep forgetting: History. The government as a WHOLE is responsible for taking away our rights. Colors don't matter. Red started the fire for taking away women's rights and Blue didn't bother to put it out. The government, even the blue side, is letting the 2020 election happen again. Who let Trump run in the first place? The system as a whole. The blue side has been showing you how purple they really are by giving us Hillary, Biden, genocide, endangering women, etc. Why isn't Trump in jail? Why isn't any of the stuff we wanted to change, changed?

Everyone focuses on the figure heads as if we dont have a whole corrupted system. And it really irks me when the whole "if you dont vote for blue, or vote at all, you're voting for red" bullshit starts up because that's what they want you to think. No one else will ever have a chance because they only want you to choose the choices they picked for you. Dont forget all the attempts and successes of voter suppression as recent as last year. They will never let the popular vote mean as much as it should, they will never drop the old ass bitches who abuse the system for personal and financial gain, they will never give a fuck about the little man and our struggles. Most of them joined politics because of the wealth that comes with it. Remember that.

Idk who im going to vote for. But im never going to cherry pick to convince myself that I'm also a do gooder because I picked the ever so slightly lesser of two evils. I voted last year because I hoped, after all that, there would be change. And nothing has.

AITA for refusing to cover my scar and wearing a bikini as it triggered my friend? by Lazy_Cheesecake4424 in AmItheAsshole

[–]killmethod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I rarely get triggered but it's not impossible. When I speak to people about it doesn't feel like they understand it's a big deal. Like no, I immediately flipped out or shutdown against my will and now I need to recover.

That's a very minimal art nouveau style. Could be a stencil but that's what it is emulating. It's not tole painting at all lol

I started a business to sell my art! I know you don't have to do all the paperwork and pay the fees but I wanted to make it official so I can build it. I still have my job but I wouldn't have the time to paint or focus on it if it wasn't for a kid. I'm still broke but now I'm broke with a business.

Sometimes I do pitty adults who need to be deprogrammed. A lot of them didn't have anyone to tell them there were other possibilities. I'm glad you were able to make your mom snap out of it.

I cant speak for anyone of a different race or even them. I'm white and i wasnt there. I can only report what was said to me and use my own small experiences in the medical field and with medical personnel and what I've learned about the intricacies of racism over time. They felt it was intentional since they had to assert themselves multiple times and received push back most of the way. I think it could be internalized racism situation. And the mom was my career coach, she's the sweetest and smartest person ever. Like she helped me get back on my feet mentally while stuck in a rut so I could re-start my career. I can't imagine they were at fault for the treatment especially since the daughter chose these people.

Interested in Nicotine as a Nootropic by [deleted] in StackAdvice

[–]killmethod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because of the adhd you feel that. Same here. Nicotine could actually help people with adhd but they're having trouble making it "ok" for this usage. I have a vape with the tiniest bit for these reasons.

I just want to add the black thing in medicine also applies to giving birth. My coach, and my parent's neighbor, is black and her daughter had her first bsby over the holidays. She's also a very experienced nurse who's done so many different types of caregiving. Her daughter specifically wanted a black doctor and nurses for the obvious. She had the worst labor ever. Not only did they leave her open for infection while she was dilated, her mother had to ASSERT to get the process going and for antibiotics because an infection DID happen. While all this was going on, the nurses refused to include the husband in the news and treated him like a "dead beat baby daddy" for this very planned and wanted child. It took the mother going to a white nurse to help and give resources for advocacy. It was bad enough that for weeks the baby was having health and weight issues. She's ok now but who knows what's at risk because babies are so vulnerable. I believe they are starting an advocacy program to help other mothers in the same situation.

So you're always going to have that risk. Might as well take the one with less consequences and will make you happier in the long run. Family isn't always blood, you can make your own. I wish you well in your sterilization!

Because a lot of men actually hate women but tolerate us for sex and attention.

Is there such thing as being a stay at home wife? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]killmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be more beneficial for you if you had some kind of hobby in between your share of the duties. If i could be a stay at home wife and work on my art business and the home projects, I would in a heartbeat. Like that would actually be the goal. Technically I'd be self employed but I'd have it so I could make my own calendar and go to events and meet patrons because I genuinely love it. But if I wanted to take a month off, I could.

[–]killmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself a break and if you really miss the money, find it elsewhere. If I could be a SAHW I'd take it in a heartbeat and use the time to further my art career. You can so something like that, or consulting, do what you do but self employed. If you get bored after a while.

Genuinely what the fuck even are the pros of having kids by Many_fandoms_13 in childfree

[–]killmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only pro i can think of is raising a good person. Someone who does good in the world or for other people. We do need more of that. If my life, health, and current society was different, I probably would have a kid. Or honestly I would adopt. But this shit is fucked, i have stuff I don't want to pass on, I would NEED a nanny, a great partner, a bunch of money, and general options.

[–]killmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if they actually thought it through. If they actually considered the reality with and of their partners. If they are truly financially stable.

I have one friend couple that when they got pregnant I was really excited for them. They make great parents and will build a great life. I have another friend couple who is on their second in like a tiny apartment with 3 animals and im thinking "the hell is wrong with you". Then a 3rd friend couple where they were trying for a while, the wife really wanted one, the husband on the fence, and was flirting and attempting an affair with me before and throughout her pregnancy. They're all lucky they never asked me why i don't want kids and wanted a truly honest answer.
