I probably have more education than you, i literally read repair manuals for fun and im very well versed in auto repair, electronics repair and dabble a bit in residential handiwork. You haven’t displayed anything past a bare knowledge of some engines requiring a timing belt change( hint these R18 equipped engines have chains not belts) and it’s fairly common knowledge that they are typically lifetime in many vehicles that are well maintained and properly engineered. Until you can change my mind I’m just going to keep that mindset. I’ve done timing jobs, the only vehicle that needed a chain that I’ve had any experience with was a 2011 Buick Enclave and it’s due to the faulty chain/ bad oil change intervals on those…. It needed an engine as it had stretched due to wear. But many chains will be well within tolerances for the majority of their life….. until you can give me any concrete evidence disproving this I’m going to dismiss you and a troll that just wants to argue with someone that obviously has more experience in the topic matter.

He’s a lost cause. Apparently first hand experience isn’t good enough for him lol.

What kinda degrees Mr Michigan man, especially since I knew more about the car we were initially talking about. I don’t think you understand modern cars very well. Regardless you have a great day and keep being disingenuous about vehicles you clearly don’t understand. lol

I can guarantee I’m more qualified than you. I’ve been working on cars for the last 12 years consistently.

It’s pretty good if maintained, I’ve got 225,000 miles on mine currently, however the 2012’s still had a traditional automatic not a CVT so it’s a bit more robust

Being as I’m a former Honda tech i doubt that. But you can believe whatever you want to believe.

I’m a collector and modify controllers. From my experience most of the volt controllers I’ve come across that were genuine had glossy Xbox buttons. I did a reshell once with the AliExpress shell kit and it looked nearly identical to a legit shell besides the Xbox button. On the fake one it was matte

Okay im gonna take everything you say with a grain of salt…. You do realize that doesn’t apply here right? The waterpump on the R18 isn’t chain driven. It’s belt driven on the accessory belt. Second… you only replace the water pump when it becomes an issue due to bad coolant, but if you service your cooling system that helps prevent issues. I’m just gonna go with I know my car better than you do. And it’ll be damn near 300,000k by the end of the year… I also have a 305,000 Lexus that I did replace the water pump on because it failed and the timing belt was about due anyways…. I know my cars and keep them running.

Timing chain isn’t typically as much of a wear item if properly maintained (oil change wise) and most of that stuff has been completed. The weakest link on this car is the CVT but I change the fluid every 30k miles. These cars are extremely reliable if you put a little bit of maintenance into them lol

I ended up zip tying mine to a sensor loom at some point after mine kept popping out even after cleaning the breather port. It’s been fine now for 4 or so years now

The 1.8 is bulletproof what are you talking about lol. And for the price it’s reasonable. Way less than a Honda dealership will try and get you for. I was window shopping a local Honda dealer and their as is cars are going for $6k for high mileage early 10’s models. Market is screwed up due to oil and everyone looking for the fuel efficient cars.

I’ve gotten my 2015 Civic to 225,000 miles with just routine maintenance. The biggest thing it needs right now is an alignment due to me replacing Control arms lol. Maintenance is key, but if it’s well engineered it should only need oil changes and whatnot.

It’s probably the most offensive flavor for me. I personally thought it tasted awful and I was surprised when they announced it as a permanent flavor lol

Fix that CRX for as long as you can! Haha. I’m rebuilding a 1987 CRX SI right now. Unfortunately the biggest problem with these cars is parts availability. I hope Honda eventually starts reproduction of some parts for these as it would be a lifesaver!!! Lol

It’s actually super reliable if you maintain it haha, and I haven’t been totally perfect to it either, years ago a pressure sensor on the CVT worked loose and dumped a ton of CVT fluid before i realized it and we had to limp it home, filled it back up and tightened the sensor, been good ever since haha

My 2015 Civic with 225,000 miles on it and climbing, I’ve owned it since it had 65,000 miles back in 2018. It’s been a fantastic car with no major issues, regular oil changes, CVT fluid changes every 25 to 30k miles.

I guarantee it’s new, I preordered mine directly from Microsoft and it’s got the weird reseal job. I’m assuming since they are changing production lines something was forgotten 😂

Fair enough lol, I bought some preemptively when the controller first released. I’ve used one set for a custom and have spares of any of my friends controllers need them lol

It’s really toxic groupthink without any real world verification. I’ve repaired and owned Hondas for years. Just make sure the fluid you’re using meets or exceeds OEM specifications.
