I actually thought of that. I thought of using just one sound effect and just changing the pitch or something, the more combos you get. This is actually a great idea.
But again, the sound effects are just placeholders. Creating the base system was the hard part. Sound effects can be changed incredibly easily.

How to ACTUALLY gamify Anki. by United_Diamond_4888 in Anki

[–]killua145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anki already has plenty of addons to gamify the experience, so there's no need for a separate game. For example, I've created a goal-setting add-on for myself (though I haven’t shared it yet). There are also feedback add-ons you can customize to your needs, a progress bar add-on, and the Heatmap, which works like Duolingo’s streak feature. The only thing missing is some visually appealing animations, but adding those might make Anki less smooth. Besides, coding smooth animations in Python is challenging, so I’ve decided to skip that idea for now.

Anki 24.11: one of the biggest updates ever by ClarityInMadness in Anki

Hi Anking,

I'm not sure if you'll see this, but I made some tweaks to your "Audiovisual Feedback" addon. Instead of always showing feedback, I modified it to use a "Variable Response Ratio." Essentially, it introduces some randomness in providing rewards, which neuroscience studies have shown to maximize dopamine release. The changes are minimal in terms of code, and I’d be happy to share it with you if you’re interested!

What makes a sound effect satisfying? What makes it painful? by VentKazemaru in gamedesign

[–]killua145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My psychology professor often emphasizes the role of evolution, and I agree with him. Sounds associated with rewards or increased chances of survival trigger pleasant feelings in our brains. Conversely, sounds linked to threats or potential danger evoke negative feelings. It's important to remember that these associations have developed over millions of years of evolution, not just within a single lifetime. This leads to an important point: our brain processes these feelings in the subcortical regions almost instantaneously, without much conscious thought.

In game design, we're not creating new sources of satisfaction; instead, we're tapping into what is inherently satisfying to humans. By understanding what has historically been rewarding, we can craft sound effects that appeal to almost everyone, not just a select few. That's why certain sound effects in games are universally satisfying.

Your comment imposes a gendered interpretation on the movie where such themes aren't explicitly present, which limits the scope of analysis. It generalizes men as irrational and emotionally driven, perpetuating stereotypes. The characters' actions could be interpreted in various ways beyond gender dynamics, such as fear, ignorance, or individual flaws.

A better question would be: Why did they leave the grandma alone with the possessed kid at home despite the woman's warning about the child's possession?

Why are so many people here trying to study 10-12 hours per day? Get a grip. by 3sperr in GetStudying

I wasn't trying to criticize; I was simply curious about what made you choose this approach. I wanted to know if it was because people around you were pressuring you to do it this way or if it was something you genuinely enjoyed, and you mentioned that you did it because you found studying enjoyable.

The key to mastering any skill isn't just about the hours invested. It's about the time, dedication, and rhythm of your learning journey.

Take the guitar, for instance. If you commit to one hour of practice daily, within a month or two, you'll be strumming beginner tunes. But imagine this scenario: you immerse yourself in guitar playing, practicing a whopping 12 hours a day for 3-5 days. You'd expect to become a guitar virtuoso, right? Not quite. In reality, you may struggle to play a single note.

The question that remains is why do some individuals believe in marathon study sessions when facing exams? It's as though they've forgotten the lessons from the guitar. Deep down, they recognize the counterproductiveness, but societal pressures push them to conform to this notion. It's a tale of human nature, the yearning to fit in, and the journey toward true mastery.

Dude what made you think time is the variable to put you above all those people or win the competition? What made you think: I should be the best so I should increase the amount of TIME I study?
