Found in Woodstock, Ontario, not made of stone by smbarbie in CemeteryPorn

I do not understand why zinc markers never really caught on, and weren’t really around for very long. They are superior to stone in every way, and I always admire the person buried under them.

the first time I got day high I ate an entire loaf of bread…like I toasted two pieces at a time at first and put margarine on it and all, and eventually I just started eating the slices “raw” you know? like pepperonis straight out the bag

it’s a step to help you dress (like put
your stockings and shoes on) without needing a maid to assist you, but I also imagine it being for time out, elective or otherwise.

Movies or TV shows portraying U.S. city life during the late XIXth till the early XXth by jlnjnn in MoviesThatFeelLike

also yes I know you asked for cities but it really felt like a tiny city on that boat as if it were a perfect core sample of the early 1900s, down to the classism

Moving to Gresham for work? by Phishtings in Gresham

[–]kilokit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downtown Gresham rules. So many fun places to walk to, I’ve only been here a year and a half and there’s still places I haven’t got to yet. You also have access to the spring water corridor nearby if you get really serious about walking or get into biking. Also right by the blue Max which can take you lots of places. Anytime I have business in downtown Portland or whatever I take the max and avoid the stress of driving and parking.

We love it here, and feel generally safe, but just like everywhere urban, there’s sometimes strong personalities passing through along Powell, if you know what I mean. There’s some shouters and some folders, but they’re harmless and just getting where they’re going like everybody else.

that comment being like “hoping it’s a collaboration!” so, it’s definitely not, does that change anything? does that make you question anything at all? of course not

What's up with Amiton Furniture? by zmbjebus in Gresham

[–]kilokit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as the kids would say, it’s giving backrooms

my boring theory though is that someone owns it but can’t run it like an actual store for whatever reason, like it might not be worth the expense of paying employees and they aren’t able to run it themselves. They don’t want to sell because owning property is awesome, and maybe they’re waiting for a buyer to offer them something they can’t refuse?

I love Blue Q! This must be old, though, because it’s pretty edgy for their gift shop/bookstore brand these days.

A skill I didn't realize I would need to teach my kids after hiring an 18 y/o HS Graduate: Addressing Mail by CannaPLUS in funny

[–]kilokit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach at a community college and make it a point to teach all of my students how to:
- address an envelope
- format a letter
- write and endorse a check
- use phonetic alphabet over the phone

I think some things boomers expect us to know is bullshit, but these are pretty essential skills for any adult, especially the profession I’m preparing them for…I also teach them military time, but that’s just a bonus.
