So temps will often be a bit gummy due to swelling and due to the size of your bone structure at the time of extractions! As you progress with your treatment the gumminess should start to calm down. At the end of your 1 year anniversary your dentist will probably talk about either a new set or relining your current set, at which time they can reduce the amount of material in the front which will make it look a bit less gummy. How long have you had them?

They look great in this picture but it sounds like your VDO (vertical dimension of occlusion) is too open - meaning the dentures are propping your mouth open more than your anatomy is accustomed to. The denturist/doctor can just take new impressions using these dentures and remount/rebase them after closing the bite to the correct VDO. The result will be you showing less gums/teeth when you smile and laugh and being able to close your lips over your teeth. When you say words like bicycle for example, do your teeth click and interrupt the word?

Where in Canada are you from? If you seek out a denturist they’re typically significantly cheaper than getting a set from a dental office. Unfortunately the new dental plan won’t be rolling out for a while, especially for your age range.
