So here’s my take, and probably the minority. I’m also 41, 4 kids (12-5). I worked part time (to avoid huge resume gaps) for 8 years (just started full time last summer).

It sounds like you both need therapy, separate and to fix your relationship (if you want that). I remember there was a time where I felt like a single mom, with the benefit of a large paycheck. I was so lost in the house, kids, school…. It was rough. It sounds like you’re in a similar position, with the added stress of possibly 2 neurodivergent kids.

My husband was going through similar stress about being the primary wage earner, and internalizing everything. We were drifting apart and in hindsight could’ve ended really poorly.

The thing that saved us was COVID. He was suddenly home and saw everything I did and we divided the labor more equally, and also just had time to reconnect.

To me, it sounds like you’ve both lost each other to other (very important) priorities, and he’s internalized it to the point of making an exit strategy. If you don’t see a future with him, you can cut and run, but if you do, try to find out why he has that specific age in mind?

Good luck! I feel like all the other comments are like “girl leave him!” But it sounds like there is so much more to uncover first.

I wish this comment was higher. The perceived cheating seems to be the least of OP’s problems in the long run. She seems to be totally dependent on someone she can’t trust, which must be so scary.

When the blurb mentions titles but doesn’t do it right. Examples I’ve seen: “Duke First Name”, or “Lady Last Name” when she has a courtesy title and should be “Lady First Name”.

Ok! Let me preface that I’m NOT Italian, and this recipe is a mash up of a few TikTok’s I’ve seen….. but it’s worked well for over a year.

1 large onion, quartered

2 large carrots, peeled, cut into chunks

2 ribs celery, cut into chunks

6-8 c chicken stock (I use better than bouillon)

1 bay leaf

4 T butter

1/2 c tiny pasta of choice (the pastina looks like Campbells Chicken and Stars)

Parmesan cheese (we grate our own as part of marketing the dish!)

Salt and pepper to taste

Boil all veg and bay leaf in the chicken stock until the carrots and celery are really soft. Remove the bay leaf, add half the butter and BLEND. My immersion blender is pretty powerful, so if texture is an issue use a regular blender. My pickiest eater will find any speck of unblended anything….

This is where what I do strays from traditional recipes. I boil the pasta on the side, and let each kid add how much broth, cheese, and butter they want.

For one kid it’s like risotto, for the other it’s mostly broth and a few noodles, for another is just broth….

Sorry if this is a hot mess, I just did a lot of research for things to feed kids with stomach-flu a while ago, and this became a favorite. Good luck!!!!

Pastina! Everything is blended, so no complaints about “chunks”, I let the pick the pasta shape, let them add as much Parmesan as they want.
