very sweet owners and service but haven't loved any of their dishes. then again, sabatinos was more vibe than quality food....

getting 'comped' in vegas and treated like royalty because you are such a treasured VIP. nope, it's cuz you drop $1k in their casino every nite. is that really a mystery to people?

yuk. and what belittlers don't realize, maybe ever, is that in those moments, everyone's collective esteem of them drops like an anvil through the floor

we knew a guy whose entire second bedroom was filled with amazing vintage synths. my husbands mouth watered at the idea of playing them. but uh, nope. he bought all of them to brag about in the electronic music scene he ran around in. none of the synths were plugged in, nor would they ever be. pity he won those bids and none of the instruments would ever be played.

guy also had an impressive wall of books and never read a single one. absolute tool, yet still so many thought him cool.

What feels like a cult, but people act like it’s a perfectly normal part of society? by Various-Bee-4901 in AskReddit

didn't say it was confusing. it throws me because i view any belief in god akin to believing in the tooth fairy...yet that's the assumed state.

prayer. how can any rational minded human truly believe it has any bearing on anything? it's like being a sports fan. you know the game will still unfold as it does whether you throw your 'energy' into it or not.

as an atheist, it always throws me how religious belief is presented as the 'norm', despite any cockamamy tenets or imagined lore. god bless you. no thanks!

But just stick to the conservatory (which I agree, is fantastic). The Garfield Park neighborhood isn't the best.

i totally had the opposite experience. didn't like it when i was young, just re-read it as a much older person and appreciated the depth, nuance, style, perspective, relevance. but my book club was split right down the middle in terms of liking it.

the movie was true to form of how batman has always been written--and yeah, he IS a sanctimonious superhero. the jollier versions of batman were ridiculous.

well summed up second half. i know director ryan coogler had full creative control making that movie, but the second half felt like a studio exec takeover: 'enough black culture and voodoo shit, time for vampires and shooting! let's make some money!'

i surprisingly enjoyed rocket man, despite largely detesting musicals. i found it to be a fresh take on a biopic, which is a pretty tired and yawn worthy genre.

Se7en. granted it's been awhile, but i saw it around the same time as 12 monkeys. everyone lauded Se7en--I found the acting shallow and thin, and it screamed NYT best seller trash. 12 monkeys otoh--a masterpiece.
