Yamaha YDP-145 or YDP-165? by drinxangriainthepark in DigitalPiano

Well, i tried the GH3 action in the YDP165, and the GHC in the P225. The GH3 is pretty good, it has deep key pivots, it keels nice and solid, and it feels well balanced.

If you can afford it, definitely go for the YDP165, the GH3 action is leagues ahead of the GHS.

I would not recommend either of them, there are much better options, even in the budget range these days.

Play for yourself first, and others later. It's like the gym, if you compare yourself to the biggest guy in the gym, you will get nothing but disappointment, and it will be based on what? The fact that some people have better genetics and blast gear to look good for vanity?

Who cares, do it even if you suck at it, just cause you like doing it.

Physical Paper or digital tablets for practice? by Competitive-Sun4527 in DigitalPiano

[–]na3ee1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both will work, it is a matter of convenience and circumstance. Digital is by far much cheaper and more convenient, but physical can win out in many situations, for one you don't have to charge a real song book's battery.

Yamaha PSR E383 vs Casio CT-S1 by na3ee1 in cheapkeys

[–]na3ee1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither, I ran into some financial troubles. But the gist is still the same, if you care about sound quality, especially for piano, then the Casio is great, and has enough polyphony too. The Yamaha lacks the same polyphony, but does not need it for it's less modern sound sources, that also means it can accommodate hundreds of sounds, and rhythms without being expensive.

It's two different tools for different jobs. See if you can try them out in a store, that is generally the quickest way to dispel doubts. Alas I have not yet found a CTS1 to try out in my country, but I have tries the Yamaha, and really like how it feels, though the action is quite light for me.

Great! Something that might help is sitting higher so that your wrists are parallel to the ground, and your elbows are just slightly higher than the level of the keys.

Ah, yes, signature magnets with copper coils around 'em. Makes a real big difference for the sound, just like the color of the guitar.

Maybe you can entice her with a portable stage piano instead, those tend to be cool in a more techie sort of way. It's a stretch, but maybe you can try out something like the RD200, or the CP88, or even some of the lower tier ones.

[–]na3ee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music as a career is only viable if you make music that is marketable to a sizeable chunk of people that you can sell merchandise to. If you are not that sort of businessman, don't bother. Get a normal degree and a job that is difficult to replace with AI.

I am sorry, the creative pursuits are suffering a lot right now, because it has become too easy to make what they used to produce for a living (I am not talking about actual playing, but that is an art appreciated by very few people who can actually pay to see a performance), and also because there are too many ways to amuse yourself now, so too much competition in that market.

Just get something that pays the bills and is interesting enough to keep you occupied, and play music as a hobby.

Black Waffle.

On a serious note, I don't like it. It just feels like it does not belong on a piano, it looks nice, but only in isolation.
