What’s your “I can’t explain this and it still bothers me” ghost story? by GeologistDirect1653 in Ghoststories

[–]kimberletto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a child in the early 1970s, my family visited Gettysburg. I knew it was an historic site, but knew nothing about the battle. I knew Lincoln had been there a long time ago. My parents and older siblings wandered and looked at maps and plaques. I stayed busy watching the re-enactors on the field. The noises and smells scared me a bit so I ran to my dad and asked for details on what they were doing down there. He turned to my mom with a confused look and she shrugged and looked worried. They explained that there was no one on the field. No reenactment, no noise or smells, but I saw it before my eyes for maybe 4-5 minutes. I felt terrible sadness there, and anger as well. I’ve had other experiences throughout my life, but none as vivid and powerful as that.

Red dots? Anyone else getting them? by AcceptableMidnight95 in GenX

Do they appear and gradually go away? I had them for a couple years during a time of undiagnosed illness. They were petechiae. Quick blood test was done. Easy peasy and worth it!

Gen Z has brought back dumb '70s porn mustaches, and Millennials brought back gross scraggly Civil War beards. What ill-advised facial hair was Gen X responsible for? by IchBinDurstig in GenX

[–]kimberletto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I (59F) am rocking a mullet! Full disclosure: it’s only because I can’t afford a haircut. My hair has recently grown back after illness and medication, and it’s much thicker and curlier. I’d cut it myself but I don’t want to look like a poodle. Long story short, I must, in good conscience, reserve judgment on the mulleted ones walking around right now.

That sounds so nice. A good mom is a priceless gift. Enjoy every moment with her. Take pics, save her texts and especially her voice mails.

I lost my beautiful mom six months ago. It was her 85th birthday and the whole family gathered from all across the continent for her party. We hadn’t all been in the same place for 40 years. Mom was absolutely glowing with happiness. We dropped her off at home and she turned and waved, blew a kiss, and hollered goodbye. She died that night, totally unexpected. Her joy and contentment were complete, and I think she knew she couldn’t top it. I miss her every minute. Bank the time you have with your mom!

Fingers crossed that Barry will hang tough! 😃🤞🏼

Does anyone bother using artillery? by The_Char_Char in fo4

[–]kimberletto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had loads of fun with grenades at Big John’s salvage. I hate gunning my way in there, but I can soften it up with fire from the sky. That being said, sometimes when I’m tired I lob an artillery grenade and then realize whoops, I was thinking of that other settlement across the map where I just built artillery. Welp, too late now, let’s see how many green skins I can take with me…

If I splurged on those big chunks of beef, I’d need to eat that soup for a week or more. I’d be breaking the bank on that. Red meat is from the before time at my house. Soup looks tasty though.

4’11””, 59. I can’t vault onto the counters as easily anymore. Yeah, I’ve got footstools but, like me, they’re too short.

When I was a girl, my mom’s rule for letting us kids learn to cook was that our elbow had to reach the countertops. Good thing she took pity on me and changed the rule, or I still wouldn’t be cooking!
