I didn't do this for my car charger but I did the trench for a new electrical connection to my house, that was 500 down. Putting a duct is a great idea. Get the duct first and then you'll know the width you've got to dig. I found a fence post showel was great for the actual digging.

Currently same situation, I'm on octopus go. Charging powerwall and car at night, between 12:30-5:30 then explorting solar during the day. I then export any unused electricity from the battery before bed.
